Only 70 of todays new cases added to the govt data are from the North West btw. Risen from 25,984 to 26, 054. Salford added just 2. Manchester added 5. And Blackpool zero. As did Stockport.

Gives some different perspective as death figures are really a picture of last month.

its obvious the R number will exceed 1 every now and then in certain places, i think the best policy is to lockdown areas sensibly and calmly!
Yes this data is a couple of weeks old hot weather and Bank hols won't have helped.

I have a friend who`s a receptionist in a doctors surgery. They have been going through the changes for when the 2nd wave comes. Also a friends wife who works as a head funeral bearer has been telling me of the mass graves being dug for the 2nd wave.

This is a bit of a worry. This lock down could drag on a lot further.
If not when

357 deaths added in all settings. Disappointing end to the week. Higher than I expected. And a large number outside of hospital. Barely any less than last Friday.
214 deaths in care homes outside Scotland. As to when they occured we haven't a clue but it's a big jump on 40 yesterday.

I really don't have idea how are we managing to barely have any cases. Nobody gives a shit about social distancing anymore. I guess because the borders are still pretty closed, though Bosnian citizens living abroad were coming during Eid holiday.

@karen7 will be glad to know that the WHO has changed it's guidelines on face coverings after the weight of evidence became impossible le to defend their previous position.

WHO updates facemask guidelines
The World Health Organization (WHO) has updated its guidance on facemasks today to recommend that governments ask everyone to wear fabric face masks in public areas where there is a risk of transmission.
In its new guidance, prompted by evidence from studies conducted in recent weeks, the WHO stressed that face masks were only one of a range of tools that can reduce the risk of viral transmission, and should not give a false sense of protection.
"We are advising governments to encourage that the general public wear a mask. And we specify a fabric mask - that is, a non-medical mask," the WHO's technical lead expert on COVID-19, Maria Van Kerkhove, told Reuters in an interview.
"We have new research findings," she added. "We have evidence now that if this is done properly it can provide a barrier ... for potentially infectious droplets."
What a dreadful mistake. 20% to 55% more cases and deaths than necessary.

That’s still not what it says.

Indeed.

I remember reading something, well before Covid was heard of, about why South Koreans wear face masks.

So as soon as covid was declared a pandemic on 10th March I’ve been wearing a face mask and gloves on transport and in supermarkets.

I wish everyone had.
