And your opinion on a Brexiter MP moaning about the effects of Brexit is...?Reading your posts is like reading the scribblings of an 8 year olds diary, who’s lost his head over being grounded.

Sad that the EU are not moving as one on this.
You missed his point. He was lying about EU attitudes to UK citizens settled there - "So bitter and twisted it's laughable". Apology ready if he provides any evidence to support what he said (and to the usual suspect who said he was "spot on").Not sure how much the EU can do about it to be honest?. we made the choice to leave and be totally separated, that decision means we have to live by the same rules as any other country dealing with the EU/Member states. IE if we want to move to a country in the EU we have to go through that countries immigration system.
Hopefully we all end up just not being dicks to each other. We are only leaving the EU, not Europe, but some folk go on like we are bricking up the channel tunnell and building a sort of Berlin Wall in Ireland. Not sure how much the EU can do about it to be honest?. we made the choice to leave and be totally separated, that decision means we have to live by the same rules as any other country dealing with the EU/Member states. Why? That would involve a tragic ammount of pettiness on BOTH sides. I think more highly of the EU.Spoiler: We will end up being dicks to each other. It’s all we’ve got.

They set the transition deadline or agreed to it at least. You explanation of why pettiness should ensue is not really an explanation, just an outpouring of bitterness.Because when you are announcing departmental mergers in the midst of trying to negotiate your way out of lockdown caused by an ongoing pandemic, save the economy, strike a comprehensive trade deal in six weeks with your biggest trade partners who ship two thirds of your food to you, simultaneously negotiate trade deals with the US, Japan, NZ and Australia, yet still manage to lose a PR battle with a young football player I think pettiness is the next step after hubris.
As for the other 27 European countries obliging them to deal with our choice of no extension to transition during their attempts to negotiate a way out of lockdown caused by an ongoing pandemic will poison relations for years to come. Their own situations will also cause them to be more defensive and less likely to seek common ground further salting the earth between England and the rest of Europe.
Still at least we will have a plane painted red, white and blue. That will show ‘em.
Foster of the FT outlining the hard choices ahead for agriculture. Includes pictures. Basically they allow a lot of shit into food production that lowers cost. Apparently we need a ‘level playing field’ :)
‘But in the USA they use all those things - hence the lower prices - so what farmers want to know; what National Pig Association wants to know is whether UK govt will PROTECT UK farmers from US farmers - because legally they cannot compete. There is no level playing field.’
What are you blethering about? The 31 December 2020 deadline was fixed when we were leaving in March last year. We chose not to, and the EU accommodated us, and if we want we could still have up to two years extension. They set the transition deadline or agreed to it at least. You explanation of why pettiness should ensue is not really an explanation, just an outpouring of bitterness.
Seems the government haven’t learnt much from the experience of using behavioural scientists to shape our pandemic response instead of using virologists and public health experts. Because that was such a roaring success we’ll ignore economists and trade experts and do the same again. What could possibly go wrong. We have now become a Monty Python sketch.
We can’t prepare our border in time for 1st Jan. We can’t even get a fucking app to work to help restart the economy safely. But the Brexit boffins have an answer to all our Brexit problems. An ad campaign. Lasting two years.

Good spot - nice to see some positive news being postedFor what it’s worth. Source BBC.
‘German media quote a foreign ministry internal document seen by reuters, advising EU to prepare for no deal with UK at the end of this year. Discusses what it sees as risk of "UK strategy" to get as much done in as little time as possible in trade talk’

Still - more positive signs that (at long last) preparations are being committed to.We have now become a Monty Python sketch.
