Car dispute advice?

In case where parts needs to be changed I always buy them myself and demand them to give me the old ones in a Box. I advice anyone to do this. They usually pick up the items from the same sites you find them on, they just slap a bigger price tag on! Most shops will install your parts. It's the time they use to put it in they make the most off!

Main dealers can only use genuine parts direct from the manufacturer.
If any dealer is using after market parts I'd be questioning it.

Thanks bud, I always go local but they don't have the Mercedes diagnostic tools to access the system on something like this.

The bloody thing drives itself most of the time.

They have now said it will be another £300 to fix the software now - unless I get the assurances I need, told them to put the old screen back in and I will pay them for their time.

They obviously don't want to be doing that, so using it to leverage the price down best I can.

Only four years old and 15k on the clock :(
Fuckin hell, not even run in yet. Get on to Merc direct. They love their image and hate negative press.

15k in 4 years! I do that in 4 months, lol.

Unfortunately, not a lot you can really do in these circumstances, they’ve got you by the short and curlies.

Merc Manchester direct want £170 to just do a diagnostic and have a two month backlog at present to book in.

I have reached an agreement for £999 for the new screen and interface.

The interface and labour was supposed to be another £400 Inc VAT on top but they agreed to now do away with the labour as a concession.

An extra £99 instead of £400 I will have to consider a result of sorts.

The car is an auto and still worth about £16k, so have to think will last me a while yet.

Is that the one next to Etihad?
Avoid!
They had Mrserys car in there for 8 months and didn’t do a tap to it.
The problem carried on for over a year and in the end we had to buy a runabout as they were in denial.
Shocking carry on!

That diag fee is shit, Audi have an agreed £60 initial diagnosis fee agreed by every dealer in the country.

I know this doesn't help as its a merc, just a comparison.

Yep, the one next to stadium in main servicing centre for Manchester.

I've had problems with them before which is why I try go independent.

Yep, all main dealers see a woman and think we'll rip them off. We also fit 2nd hand ebay parts and charge full whack. It's how we make our margins. Only we don't. You're much more likely to be misdiagnosed and ripped off by your local mechanic who fits none genuine parts made of chocolate and then sub contracts it out to a dealer to fix his mistake and adds 10% to your bill. I've never worked for Mercedes to be fair but all manufacturers generally have 'goodwill' available to customers where by they offer a percentage towards the repair on cars just outside of the warranty. It's worth asking the question. Of course, if it was done at an independent you can go to the motor ombudsman if they are a member which most garages are.

Didn't they move part of there business to the all singing Stockport dealership?
Seem to remember the used car dealership closed near the end of the mancunian way too.
