Shot. Tried to adjust his stride pattern and hit it towards goal. But attempting to alter his stride pattern caused him to get the timing wrong.
then why is he looking towards Foden instead of the goal? It was a side footed pass to Foden.

It connected with the back of his side foot instead of the middle of it. But still great assist indeed

He isn’t looking at Foden. Don’t lie!

H
e looks his way afterwards to see where he shanked it to.

It's not Foden I was paying attention to, he will know someone was heading to back post, as that's what they train for. He simply helped the ball on to a very dangerous area.

Split seconds after the shot you showed, he's looking at the ball instantly. He couldn't have tracked the path, since he was looking the opposite direction at first(disguising the pass). It's almost as if he knew instantly where it was heading isn't it? From a supposed miss-hit...

Notice the position of his left arm on both images too, behind his back almost and the direction in which he wheels away is all indicative of him helping it on, since he was being closed down and the keeper had that side of the goal covered.

Defo not a shot. He instantly looked where the ball was going, which is unlikely from a miss-hit. He obviously tried to disguise it(maybe did it too well for some) but on the wide-angle shot, notice the lean backwards as well. Again not what you'd normally see if he was going for a shot. It was flick with the side foot, he's rather good at that.

Big fan of Gabby but absolutely no chance. He knew where it was going because it wasn’t a complete miss kick and it was heading in a way he was almost facing after contact.

It’s 100% a pass.

I’m certain of it.

He tries to flick it to keep the pace and he looks directly at Foden.

The ball/pass was on him too quickly. So rather than his instep or laces he’s connected more towards his heel/lower side foot. He’s a very good player but prime Bergkamp or Zidane wouldn’t have seen or executed that pass. He just happened to follow where the ball went with his momentum.
