Yep no mention of stabbings, firework fired into the crowd and at the liver building, no mention of police being attacked. BBC news an embarrassment

Spent more time on utd v Norwich

The Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson told the Worlds Media and anybody else who cared to listen what was going to happen 2 months ago, much to the annoyance of both Liverpool FC and the Spirit of Shankly.

An LFC statement read: "As a club, we are aware of and disappointed by comments attributed to Mayor Joe Anderson in a media interview which was published today.

"As well as a lack of evidence to support such claims, we would also point to recent discussions with Mayor Anderson relating to the possibility of any behind closed doors football, which concluded that it is important that key stakeholders across the city continue to engage and work collaboratively.

"In recent weeks, we have engaged with supporters groups who have informed us of their determination to respect social distancing measures and, in the event of a resumption of football being announced, we would continue to work with them and other key stakeholders in keeping with our collective desire to achieve this crucial objective".

Response Statement to Mayor Anderson from the Spirit of Shankly

Thursday 30 April 2020 at 17:50

Spirit of Shankly are angered by comments made by Liverpool City Mayor, Joe Anderson.

The Mayor has chosen to speak out on a hypothetical matter, namechecking Liverpool FC supporters without discussion with those fans or fan groups.

There is no evidence to support the Mayor’s perception that Liverpool supporters will break any lockdown regulations and gather outside of Anfield should football be resumed and played behind closed doors.

SOS raised this issue with the club, back on 13 March, ten days before lockdown began. We agreed then a determination to respect social-distancing measures and, in the event of a resumption of football, we would continue to work together, along with other key stakeholders, in achieving this objective.

Rather than disparaging words about football fans, it would have been more beneficial for the City Mayor to acknowledge the work being done by those same people in easing pressures on the city’s old and vulnerable at this time. SOS alone up to now have delivered more than 1,000 food parcels, and are active partners in helping with the supply of PPE and @SFoodbanks

We ask the Mayor to retract his statement and work with fans to support all during this time of crisis.

Maybe next time they might listen

I don't know - if you can't take a pissed up dipper at his word I am fearful of what the world is coming to

If anyone is wondering why li'pool get such an easy time with the media just remember the name Colin Mafham.
He was a freelance journalist but had a contract with the Daily Express. Immediately after the violence at the home leg against Roma, Mafham did a piece criticising Liverpool and their fans. One comment was …..
“always seemingly involved in such horrific altercations on big European nights”.
and he also said that trouble seemed to follow Liverpool like bees round honey.
Everyone kicked off including the Mayor. Mafham was suspended and then sacked.

The message is simple. If you want to keep your job, tow the line.

It journalists like him that should be applauded for writing how it is...not like this lily livered lot who consistently suck the arsehole of the scouse scum

They will never hold their own hands up...the scousers are total dogshit, in fact that is a slur on dogshit

The funny thing is they seem to think that some how they had started to clean their reputation up....when the truth is it will always remain the same......

Utter fucking scum and a shame on the nation

Thank fuck we don't share a city with this lot

Everton you have my utmost sympathy

they're just idiots really, we just laugh at them. it's like having a brother and you know once he's had a bevvy or two or two he's going to make a cnut of himself. don't get me wrong we have our share but they corner the market. they take video of themselves snorting coke off a copper's hat, post it all over social media then call each other grasses. same with the fireworks. they're a really weird breed.

Social distancing , this was last night this bunt should be no where near our players/stadium for the Liverpool game , remember

all the shite Kyle got of sky sports for visiting his family, rant over .
Can this not be posted onto SKY complaints page?

Just emailed sky CEO, jeremy.darroch@bskyb.com, to advise him that Spit is breaking Government covid 19 restrictions and should not be allowed to attend games for the next 14 days. Also making the point about the lack of coverage of the behaviour of Liverpools fans even though everyone in the world knew they would behave like this, except for the 'naive' media and the clubs sycophants.

Good to see the dippers regain the crown for the scumiest, feral rat followed team in the country, no other club comes close to having such shit house lowlifes masquerade as fans, and I include the swamp dwellers in that.

They genuinely don't have any shame, a maggot infested club from top too bottom.

No lover of the scousers here, detest isn't a strong enough word to describe my feelings for them but... There were marches today from gay pride to BLM and I mean loads of them singling out the anfield arseholes on this point is a bit absurd unless we're singling them all out.

That said they fight amongst themselves, set fire to buildings and attack coppers, that should be the just and proper criticism.

The scouse youngsters are properly feral and IMHO LFC is at a real crossroads
The club has encouraged this feral behaviour and is dragging itself back into the dark days of the 1980's
LFC can continue to whip up and encourage this behaviour or start to do something about it. The younger element are wearing the Hillsborough 96 as a badge of excuse to do whatever the fuck they want with no one prepared to call them out, let alone punish criminal behaviour and it needs stopping now before every other fanbase starts to follow suit
