Future Strikers

Watched taht first video, and other than the goals he was shocking! haha. Football hey. Gave the ball away so, so many times. Redeemed himself with the goals and assist though. Would be pulling my hair our in frustration if he hadn't bagged.
He's still very raw and prone to concede possession. But he's a great athlete, has a very good touch and is a fantastic finisher with both feets. He's only 20 years old so he'll only get better.

Interesting responses.

From the limited Ive seen of Harvetz he looks more like an attacking midfielder than a striker ( a very far advanced KDB if you will) - maybe not positionally but just in the way he plays - not that that is a bad thing mind!

Iask - something says Paulo Wanchope to me when i see him move and run!

Haaland - seems a no brainer to me - looks like he has everything in his locker - complete all around strike - young and may not reach the level but he looks like he easily could at the moment. I think we would have to fight Bayern, Chelsea, Utd and the big Spannish two for him and its a fight i dont think we would win based on our unwillingness to pay big transfers

Lacazeete and Aubamayang - when they went to Arsenal I would have had either of them - Lacazette over Aubamayang if there was a prefernce - However Lacazette is 29 i think Auba is 31 so both are the wrong age profile now.

Mbappe - well obviously but I think he has Real Madrid written all over him

I do think we need a more direct replacement - i can see why people will say Pep will go for a false 9 type of player but I think that restricts our options - jesus, sterling bernardo, foden - can all play that role - we need an out and out goal scorer like Aguero in my opinion
Here's an example of Havertz playing Cf, deputizing for injured Volland. Probably the best 'false 9' performance I've seen since Messi under Pep

I don't care if Haaland's dad played for us or not, he doesn't suit our playstyle at the moment. He's very similar lukaku, who's also a brilliant player but not suited to our football. His passing and technique is far below the standard required to play as a striker for us. Fantastic player on his day, and could still do a good job at City, but we will not get the most out of him in unless Pep drastically changes his system.

People who actually watches Haaland instead of just highlights and stats will recognize that he needs space to run in to in order to be effective, which is space he will not find against the low blocks the opponents always use against us. He's not suited to us the way Werner isn't suited to us either, both brilliant players but would suit a more counter based team like United or Chelsea better, hence why we passed on buying Werner.

More all round strikers like Lautaro Martinez, Alexander Isak or even Sebastien Haller would work a lot better. They are players who can create chances on their own or link up with teammates really good. While Haaland is a top notch finisher he might as well be a 70m training cone when we struggle. For people who bring up Mbappe he doesn't work as a lone striker, not even in the french league. He needs a striking partner or to play on the wings to be at his best

ive seen better videos of him - based off that one he didnt look great accept the first finish (his penalty should have been saved) - btu I know there is a lot of hype about this lad at the moment so he must have something

Mbappe but unrealistic.

Harry Kane. A proper no9 to replace Aguero, prem experience, proven and a realistic signing. He would get 30+ every season.

Was trying to avoid Messi with Pep comparisons. Though I’ve seen many teams including us play games a false 9 , it’s usually playing without a 9 and hoping for the best from the wide / midfield players getting the goals. Messi was a true false 9 in that he understood the position and had the finishing ability and composure when he got into striking positions. While not Messi Havertz is the one player I’ve seen that seems to have that intelligence, and composure that would make him a true false 9 that could play there regularly and not just as a one off or occasionally. There may be others, but I haven’t seen them.

I don't really see how Van de Beek is a striker option. Havertz is also not a striker but is at least he is a lot quicker than VDB, scores more goals and plays further forward. Van de Beek is no more of a striker than our current midfield options (Bernardo, KdB, Foden) or our wingers (Sterling, Mahrez).
If we transition into a 3 ATB like it's been suggested then he actually could play anywhere in the front 3. The 2 wingers invert and become the playmakers and there is a lot of link up play in the middle. So you could have any 3 of Phil, Mahrez, Sterling, Jesus, Bernardo and Van de Beek. May seem like overkill, but really out of all of them only Phil is clinical IMO.

Like I said he has good link up in tight spaces and can hit a ball first time. He works hard defending from the front as well. He'd work well for how we play.

Havertz is the one. Maybe not a striker, but he can play there and Pep isn't likely to want a Lukaku-type up front anyway is he. Think he wouldn't be outrageously expensive plus it would be good to get one over on Bayern and they apparently can't afford him this summer.

The benefit of Havertz is that you can buy him and keep Jesus in the squad. You can play Havertz anywhere in the front 3 or as an 8, and Jesus could play on the LW as well as striker.

Donyell Malen. Quite similar to Aguero in that he can take the ball into feet with his back to goal, turn quickly, and drive at pace into the defence. He's deceptively quick (pocket battleship) and has an eye for goal. One of those players who is in the right spot in the box when the ball drops and hits it first time, none of that 2-3 touches to get it under control. He can also pick a pass when the defence is tight.

And it makes Havertz a pretty low-risk transfer. If he fails as a CF, or some gettable star striker emerges later, you can always re-integrate Havertz in a different way thanks to his versatility.

This kinda proves that you could sign any striker and keep Jesus in the squad.
