Arguably it's more important in the workplace than a supermarket. Although there are other ways of controlling it in an office, like keeping every other seat free and allowing people to work from home at least some of the time.Why just retail surely this should be mandatory in the work place? You sit next to someone in close proximity in an office for 8-9 hours a day surely upping the chances of transmission. In normal circumstances how many occasions do we see bugs going round offices making people go off sick?
I don't think any of it has got any less confusing (perhaps even more so now). There's noise from everywhere and it's incredibly difficult to think straight. I'm avoiding most places (visit the supermarket just a few times a week late in the evening). I walk a lot (with the dog) mainly to keep fit and have my wellbeing lifted (and run too) but I'm finding this incredibly tough.
Are we to rely on a vaccine? Maybe they won't source one. Maybe there will be awful side effects (there's a lot of noisy theories about vaccination as usual). Maybe the virus will indeed retreat like Sars. No one really seems to have a grip on it which is fertile ground for both conspiracy theories and panic.
If you look at daily infections they are plateauing around the 500-600 a day. I can’t see this getting down into double digits by the time autumn begins, they must have had a change in mindset on the data on infections going up with a temperature drop. The NHS will probably have to go round 2 with this virus until a vaccine rocks up in 2021. They are better prepared this time with new treatments and the experience they have gained since March which gives me hope.

It beggars belief that indoor masking is now classed a safer option, yet we still have to wait another 10 days to implement the process. In the beginning of the outbreak we were all advised that masks were ineffectual, but surely wearing one afforded more protection than not wearing one. You could not get a mask for love nor money back then so we both had to go to the You-Tube for our sock-mask making classes. I was never good at arts and crafts so it's with heavy heart do I say, that we looked a pair of sweaty bell-ends when out and about with children pointing at us and parents giving a polite tug. For filters we used Andrex doubled over and sprayed with Zoflora. This time however we shall not get caught out as there is going to be a massive surge for face covering sales in the next week, so get your orders in quickly. Unsure if this new directive is applicable to public houses but the ones we used in the Pool over the last few days only a few made the effort with social distancing becoming minimal as the night wore on, which was our directive to hook on and bail on out. We found Spoons followed the guidelines better than most with social distances fully observed and table service provided.
|Yeah it's not great. I could see this going on for years and years when they have issues with getting a working vaccine. It's not an easy task to get a working vaccine especially in a much faster time frame.
Unless I was in a higher risk of death I'd also be staying away from that vaccine for at least 2 years though. To see what the short term effects are before jumping in.
We don't have to wait 10 days though do we. Anyone with sense will do it from now and will already have done. So there's no reason to wait to the official mandatory date, that's just when a government policy can be implemented and legal
It really isn't much effort to buy a pack of face masks and wear them. I don't see the opposition to this idea of wearing one in shops etc? It shows courtesy to those who work there and reduces the risk.
I can foresee this being an absolute ballache for retail staff to police. Obese Sandra from Doncaster will be kicking off with retail staff when she will be refused entry/service in a shop for not wearing a mask.

Early doors in the pandemic, he went to HR to say he was at risk because of a number of previous conditions he's had. They told him to work from home as you would expect but he wasn't happy at all. He was furious when they then furloughed him. He phoned me every week and tried to talk to me about work but I was wary of this and simply gave one word answers knowing that I could be part of any investigation should word spread that he was still working (I don't think he was).
He came back a month ago despite the fact that the virus was more prevalent in the north than it was when he had to work at home. Work would absolutely allow him to work from home but he has no intention. He's one of those people who like to be seen and showing how important they are.
I'm thinking of exit options internally or externally but I know it's not a good time to jump ship.
