Ziegler in the Times (who's been well briefed by City) says that City's refusal to co-operate was on the basis of "the fruit of the poisoned tree" legal principle and the fact that they knew most, if not all, of the allegations were time-barred. He also quoted an unnamed source at City as saying they believed the Qatari Security Services engineered the hack. Wonder if the Saudi action against BeIn Sports is connected?Yeh it was apparently they treated the UEFA investigation with contempt that corrupt out of date organisation deserved and new they would get fined, well done Cityfor putting salt in their tea. !!
Tax avoidance, I think.
Possibly! A whole load of Spanish football names got done over a couple of years. The suspended sentence was typical, and standard under Spanish law.
I think there may have been a law change that caused it, can't remember

Yes, but that was at CAS. we couldn't use it there and I think we tried and failed on the first day of the hearing. But City used it, rightly or wrongly, in refusing to co-operate. And clearly CAS didn't think it applied.Think the "fruit" element was poo-poo'd on here the other day by s couple of blues who are lawyers mate.
Pajama bottoms? Posh cünts. The case was done over Zoom or something right? I have the surreal image in my head of tens of top and world-leading lawyers sat there in the bedrooms in shirts, ties, and their pyjama bottoms discussing this case.
Erm, it really is like that at the moment in lots of arbitration...The case was done over Zoom or something right? I have the surreal image in my head of tens of top and world-leading lawyers sat there in the bedrooms in shirts, ties, and their pyjama bottoms discussing this case.

Do you think most of the allegations are time barred or not established? Obviously, we need to wait for the official CAS findings, but I am hoping for the latter?Ziegler in the Times (who's been well briefed by City) says that City's refusal to co-operate was on the basis of "the fruit of the poisoned tree" legal principle and the fact that they knew most, if not all, of the allegations were time-barred. The CAS statement says that the Club did not disguise equity funding as sponsorship.Ziegler in the Times (who's been well briefed by City) says that City's refusal to co-operate was on the basis of "the fruit of the poisoned tree" legal principle and the fact that they knew most, if not all, of the allegations were time-barred. I'd guess so but we'll know when the full judgement is published, hopefully tomorrow. The CAS statement says that the Club did not disguise equity funding as sponsorship.
This surely means this was proven by the Club to the satisfaction of the Adjudicators and was not just a time barred issue.
Not just arbitration.Erm, it really is like that at the moment in lots of arbitration...
CAS called these "serious violations" so I'd assume they investigated them, regardless of the time-barring issue. But all UEFA had was the Der Spiegel emails and, I believe, only the ones actually published as I said a while ago. They had fuck all.Do you think most of the allegations are time barred or not established? Obviously, we need to wait for the official CAS findings, but I am hoping for the latter?
Judgment.I'd guess so but we'll know when the full judgement is published, hopefully tomorrow.
