David Silva leaves City after 10 years

Underlining an earlier post - I am on holiday in La Palma, Canaria at the moment. Last night we went out to a local restaurant, me in my Man City shirt. The head waiter saw me & brought up 2 colleagues to clap & say well done for winning tonite & they were ecstatic about David Silva.

Imagine their faces when I showed them a video on my fone of me & David taken last October in Gran Canaria when he was showing off our 4 trophies. They would not let me pay !

About seven years ago we were strolling along the front one night in Port De Pollenca, my lad was about five at the time, wearing his little City kit with Silva on the back.

We were stopped a couple of times by locals who wanted to give my lad the thumbs up and acknowledge Silva's name on his back.

Dave's name results in respect for who he is, as both a footballer and as a man.

Legend.
Lovely part of Mallorca too! We stayed in Alcudia and was acknowledged a few times whilst wearing my City shirt in the Old Town about the respect they have for our Dave.S

When we played Madrid away in the semi, me and my mate were on the train into Madrid from the airport.

We met some Athletico fans who said they believed he was Spain's best player, they thought he was fantastic.

He is generally loved in Spain, even though his demeanour isn’t exactly in keeping with what usually excites Spaniards. ;-)

Even my uncle, a hardened Madridista, who hates Pep with a fiery passion that can only be stolen from the depths of Liverpool itself, thinks David is one of the best, most consistent players Spain has ever seen.

I hate bloody freeloaders!

I'm not a plastic fan but I'm knocking City on the head and supporting whoever he signs for next. Hope their version of Bluemoon accepts me.
I hear Cowsofヴィッセル神戸.net are accepting new members.

A beautiful man and one of, if not the greatest player we've ever had.

I would love for him to end his career at City, but what he's been through with his son and what he's achieved at City in his time, he's welcome to make whatever decision is right for him.

He continues to grace the pitch and make everyone wonder why he's leaving. Much rather that, than to see him decline (not that he ever will) and cause people to dare question his ability.

If there truly is a higher power, then City will go on and win the Champions League this season. And David shall be the man to lift it. He deserves it.

His testimonial will sell out quicker than Vinnie's.
It should, because I saw Vinnies game and goal v Leicester, and didn't feel a great need to come travel to Manchester for his testemonial. With David, it feels unfinished so will travel down for it whenever that happens.

And hopefully it won't be filled with United players like Kompany's was.

. I've seen some midfielders in my time - Bobby Johnstone, Peter Dobing, Ali Bernabia, Kinky - but none 'em, collectively, has given me as much viewing pleasure as our Spanish Puskas (and I refer to Puskas as the Hungarian Silva!) .

Good list. Johnstone was the first footballer I ever noticed, and for years in the fields at the back of our house I tried to copy his diving header that made it 1-1 in the Newcastle cup final. Didn't see the like again till another of those players, Benarbia, scored one in a Boxing Day match against Aston Villa. So yes, these are some of the few that merit the over-used word "genius", and David Silva is probably the best of them.

Sinatra said always leave the room at your most popular and Dave’s learnt that from Vinny.

Happy to see him leave with this form, which I didn’t think he had anymore tbh.

An all time legend, he’ll be sorely missed.

Foden could go on to win the next 12 leagues, but he is not “The next David Silva”. There is no “next David Silva” and that’s the highest compliment we can pay the man.
