We have played Sané of the left and Sterling on the right in a cup semi against Arsenal before, it didn't change things.

Yeah there will be individual games where that happens but we looked a much better side in 17/18 with traditional wingers than we do now with inverted.

We were just as good if not better though the next year and in the crunch games we used inverted wingers.

I'm not disputing the value of wingers playing on their traditional sides, in this team in particular having that option for variety is really useful and important. But I don't believe it's where the problems are stemming from.

Pep needs to sign another 2/3 years or leave this season. The club need to move forward and get some new players. Impossible really if
Pep is going next season.

this is the biggest issue right now & you have to wonder if the players are wondering who’s the next manager.

Pep's game management was bad. Arsenal's defensive stance was perfect , but City played so unwise. There are 8 Arsenal players in the box, all our attacking players are barely 1.7 meters and we are still crossed 304040 balls as Dzeko Ramos and Cristiano out there waiting for the balls. I just do not understand it! In such a situation individual actions need to be taken, 1 vs 1 like Mahrez did and almost scored or Sterling that almost got a penalty,or try to shot outside the box to pull Arsenal out. What are all these crosses ?!

we have done it a lot this season which is really odd!

He's built a team that is very good at retaining possession and, if we score first, defeating the opposition. Concede first, however, and the opponent knows he has a good chance of winning.
Liverpool have built a side that is expansive and capable of going with us toe-to-toe. Chelsea and Wolves have also developed sides that have pace and legs up the middle of the park, and that is something that hurts us. I expect Arteta to follow that pattern.
More youth and more pace would seem to be the order of the day.

Hindsight is a truly wonderful gift but Gundogan and David together at Wembley is a bit optimistic imho.

I very much doubt Pep believes that's our best midfield now. I guess his reasoning was that a legend like David deserves to start another game at Wembley. We are not starting with this midfield in the CL.

He'll play Gundogan.

Yes, but not Silva. For all moaning about Rodri and Gundogan we are better with them than with Gundogan and Silva. Sadly, Silva doesn't have the legs for games at this level. He is still capable of magic moments but that's not enough in high intensity games. Bernardo or Foden or even Rodri should have started instead. Bernardo might not be in top form right now but he can press all day and is also a big game player, especially away from home.

Teams at the moment are exploiting our defence in the wide/full-back areas. We looked vulnerable there against Chelsea, the derby before lockdown, Bournemouth at home, and Arsenal today. The game plan against us is to use pace in the wide areas to beat the offside trap when our defence is high up. Both Arsenal goals came from those areas. Despite dominating possession and creating more chances, Arsenal looked more dangerous in the few attacks they had. It was the same against Southampton. It's very hard to score against a packed defence, but its much easier when you get in behind the defence. Arsenal got their tactics spot on.

First time I can say Pep got the entire set up and tactics wrong. Subs too late and changed nothing.
