Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

The default is to presume someone isn’t a racist, I know the left struggle with that.

Calling a Latino woman a bitch doesn’t make you a racist, if she didn’t deserve it it makes you rude.

Interesting that AOC referenced his daughters. Question is would he have called a young white woman ‘a fucking bitch’? Would he have called a young white woman who resembled his daughter ‘a fucking bitch’?

People find it easier to insult those who look different as we identify less.

You’re seeing what you want to see.

You’ve got into your head everyone who’s not on your side is a racist misogynist.

You think every Tory or Republican, or right winger generally, hates women and minorities.

It’s why political opponents swearing at each other is racism, is misogyny, is whatever the left wants it to be.

We’re living in your world now where everything is presumed as hate speech until you can prove otherwise.

I can’t be arsed Bob, it’s exhausting talking about it, with people who share this view of yours.

Why is the default to presume that someone isn't a racist? Surely the default is to say we don't know? As usual, you're trying to portray your side of the debate as the neutral, reasonable one, when in reality your claim that it "has nothing to do with race" is exactly as presumptive as the statement you're criticising.

If saying it has nothing to do with race is as bad as saying it is without knowing, why aren’t you questioning the other posters?

It doesn’t have anything to do with race until you prove otherwise, that’s the point.

Are you going to monitor every single interaction with a white person and non-white person and go “hang on a minute, that criticism might be racism!”

Every time a white person is rude, abusive or just reasonably critical of a minority, the position you must take is that it isn’t racist until there’s proof it is.

Otherwise we’ll never drop the race issue.

I think with Yoho any racism is open to question (unless he has a record on it, which tbh, I’ve no idea on), but I’d say his misogyny is pretty clear cut.

Ignore doesnt work on here.

The outraged like the attention too much.

I can only speak from personal experience, but I have found it helpful on here from time to time; it certainly worked for me. If someone is getting that wound up by a particular poster, it makes sense imo.

Off topic but it needs to work so as the blocked poster cant see your posts as well and until it does, its useless imo.

I don’t know if he’s been misogynistic elsewhere and has a history of it but what I do know is calling someone a “fucking bitch” is out of order but isn’t sexist.

Just as Corbyn calling May a “stupid woman” wasn’t sexist either, for a comparison, although that’s debatably closer to being sexist.

I can't believe the Don Quixote contingent have seized on the "this isn't racist argument" while ignoring a much better one -- Yoho denies he even said this. You can't "prove" it's racist? Shit, you can't prove the event even happened!

You'd think they'd have figured out the playbook by now; wonderful blueprints available all over the internet.

Look at this man -- how can you not believe him? "I will commit to each of you that I will conduct myself from a place of passion and understanding that policy and political disagreement be vigorously debated with the knowledge that we approach the problems facing our nation with the betterment of the country in mind and the people we serve. I cannot apologize for my passion or for loving my God, my family and my country." I'm weeping, so touching.

Yeah, I mean we won’t change each other’s opinions mate, but I just think I’d say it was because he used an insult so closely associated with being a woman, in other words used a woman-only insult.

Horseshit, there are plenty of bitches on this thread who are men. Specifically, those freaking out over -- or placing all hope in -- a 31-year-old Congresswoman from New York.

It's a long way to the top. She's not close; I cannot understand all the hyperbole either way.

It’s also the most commonly used insult that both men and women use for women.

If she’d called him a bastard the conversation would be how inappropriate it was, rather than discrimination.

What did Sebastian say about you acting like
this?

Calling someone a fucking bitch isn’t racism.

Pretending it is wont help you.

They may as well howl at the moon for the good it will do.

Majority of society lets it go in one ear and straight out of the other.

They could play bingo, fill the card and shout "racist" instead of house its such normal behaviour for them now.

I have to say, I originally considered it to be a misogynistic insult and there is still some of me that thinks Trump has legitimised the insult in American politics and he is certainly using it as a misogynistic insult imo. However, having considered further and watched these arguments, the term Bitches is used so much in America for both sexes, friend and foe that I am not sure at all.
I still like her. Think it was a shitty thing to do but she has made the most of the political capital. She is a smart operator, no doubts about that.

God damn, at LAST someone who GETS it.

Jesus tap dancing Christ.

Her comment in response -- "Bitches get things done" -- will be a bumper sticker soon enough.

I abhor her politics but as a politician she's quite sound. I am so sick and fucking tired of people who cannot tell the difference between the two -- it absolutely astounds me.

The tactic is to now label every single negative view or disagreement towards a minority as racist.

It’s ironic as their favourite new word “gaslighting” is exactly defined as what they’re doing now.

“I think Mike Tyson is a prick” = “Well you’re racist”.

Well slap my arse and call me a bitch I agree.
