38 deaths yesterday from a virus. On average 213 people die a day from smoking related issues. But you can still buy cigarettes...

The sooner we understand that this virus is something we have to live with like other viruses and diseases the sooner the country gets back on its feet.

we are living with it. You can't just have everything you want back straight away without compromise and regard for others health. The selfish bastard syndrome on this thread is symptomatic of society, and it's why the nice things are being taken back off you.

And another 213 will presumably die tomorrow and the next day as well. All or at least 99% from an activity that they chose to indulge in. What we are trying to do is stop the needless and preventable extra deaths each day from Covid. Not following obvious preventative practices because individuals don't like being told what to do is extending the time for all of us to continue existing in this abnormal state.

Back on it's feet ?
What with overrun hospitals, overworked staff, a health disaster like Brazil. Care homes would be emptied out pretty quick.
I hate this argument....more people die of flu, smoking, car crashes etc.
People can't seem to visualise what would happen if we all just ignored it and carried on as normal.

Exactly this. We built the nightingale hospitals to prevent the nhs being over Run, thankfully they haven’t been needed yet. But there is a good reason they are still there! Altrincham I’ve rink was apparently signed up to be a temporary morgue.

to just open up and “live with it” would mean probably having to build far more of them!.

add onto that the new side of this where 78% of those recovered ( all ages, in hospital and home recovered) have heart damage after.... that’s a long term thing we can’t sustain.

It’s doubtful whether the Covid death figures will reduce for sometime if PHE are continuing to use this definition.

How many people die of X, y or z is irrelevant. The fact is, off the back of us deciding to just "live with" covid, we had 1000 people dying a day and absolute carnage in our hospitals.
