Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Luckily our ownership dont think like that or Barca would have had Mourinho as their manager and Pep would still be managing their B Team and the greatest club side of all time probably would never have happened.
Our DoF and CEO were responsible for promoting the club’s B team manager, who had just won the league, whilst at Barca. Incidentally that one single trophy is still more that the enigma Poch has won after 514 games with 4 clubs in two leagues

That is my point our ownership will choose the right person. Peps record at that time was not comparable with Mourinhos but he still got the vote.

No one is doubting he has been fantastic for us and I would love him to stay but IF he has decided nxt year he will move on and the club consider Poch as the ideal replacement then sometimes you have to make that decision. In an ideal world as an understudy (but unlikely) with a commitment he takes overr nxt year.
Just because we as fans don't know is completely irrelevant, 2 of his best mates are key players at the club, and business partners of his, they'll know what he's thinking, he won't be hiding it from his friends, the chairman, or the owner.

Ah yes, this argument again. Poch is not a good manager because he hasn't won trophies at Espanyol, Southampton, and Tottenham. Got it.

Beyond ridiculous isn't it. To pretty much everyone in football he is a highly respected coach but that holds little sway.

It's not my argument really, mine is that we don't have an opening, and it's quite likely we won't.

Pep won't discuss this subject with the media while we still have very important football matches to play, and that is exactly how it should be.

Agree, and as fans on a forum we dont know so we speculate and write comments including the the word ‘if’ because we don't know. For some bizarre reason you found this objectionable but that is blue moon these days.

I'd rather have Leeds manager Bielsa if Pep doesn't renew. Of course I'd rather Pep renewed, but he will go to Italy eventually.

Sorry, I should have quoted the poster before me. I do not disagree with your point. I just don't understand why everyone has to be winning silverware at these clubs that are quite obviously not at the same level.

Can’t see pep staying after his contract tbh . Just think he will have run his course and will move on to the next challenge which I believe will be back at Barca . We have had some great seasons with pep and we will have great seasons with the next manager .

go on then. it's Saturday afternoon - are you talking about the scum or dippers.

I was making the point that those who state Poch will not get the job because of his lack of experience winning a trophy are wide of the mark as those running the club have already chosen Pep, with no first team mgmt experience, to manage arguably one of the three biggest clubs in world football over Mourinho who was decorated, at the time, as one of the top coaches.

If its the right fit, regardless of past success, we will go for him

Maybe if this transfer window goes excellently. And we get our targets etc....maybe he will stay longer.

I think Pep needs fresh faces to work with, players he knows he can improve and that can take the team to a new level. To keep him motivated.

Yeah and pep hasn’t built a second new team so that might motivate him to sign on for 3 more years.

Stop embarrassing yourself. Football sees Poch as a top class coach, if you cannot see it, that is your lack of understanding.

Poch is a top class manager, I don’t see how that is up for dispute. He also perfectly fits the profile of what we want in a manager.

That said, we currently have the best manager in the world. Pep is the Messi of management whereas Poch is the Aguero.

Pep will leave when he wants to, it will be on his terms. We are never going to get a manager on Pep’s level so whoever we bring in will be a step down.

Poch is certainly the best of that calibre of manager for me.
