Eric Garcia to Barcelona

Loving the idea being espoused by one particularly arrogant sod on here that Pep not allowing Barca to sign Garcia will hurt his reputation with the Barca fans...

Yes he won them everything, ushered in a golden age for the club, and developed the greatest player they have ever seen. BUT if he doesn't unprofessionally allow a 19 year old "cuntera" kid go back for free, his reputation will be damaged beyond measure. Oh how fickle these supposedly die-hard fans are...

It's not just that Pep won everything with them, and created their most successful period, they've been mourning his loss and comparing every manager they've had in the last 8 years to Pep, and even when someone delivers them a treble, he doesn't get love from the Barca fans because he's not Pep.

The idea not selling Garcia would hurt his standing is hilarious.

Some lines you cross, you can never go back

Are you genuinely implying - with a straight face - that this transfer of a 19 year kid is that line in the sand? If Pep does not waltz into the boardroom and say "Look here sheikh and bake, if this kid isn't allowed to go back to Barca, I am ruined in the eyes of the coulis! So make it happen"

Because I've got to be honest with you mate, and I mean no disrepect here, thats absolutely fucking daft.

Lets say hypothetically, Taylor Harwood-Bellis chins us off and goes to Anderlecht. Then a couple of years later he decides he's had enough of that, and wants to come back. But Kompany says "no chance, he has a contract so pay the asking price or he goes to the reserves". If you think that would have any affect whatsoever on how much any blues see him, then you're absolutely off your rocker.

not crossed any lines? He specifically told barca in a press conference to butt out about talking about our ban as he knows things happen at the wonderful, perfect Spanish rags as well, never have I read such arrogant, false romantic view about a club, you out do the dippers, tick tock to messi retiring

Not at all the sort of line I am talking about

First part true.

Second part hilarious as well, also not at all what I asserted

So, let me get this straight. Barcelona are keen to sign Eric Garcia on the cheap. Both Pep and Eric are so concerned about their standing with Barcelona fans, in order to appease them they are both signing for Juventus? Have I followed you correctly?

You've followed me a bit similarly to others in here it would seem

It was sarcasm. Pep has been linked to Juve in the past despite nothing credible to it. Now someone posts a link of Garcia there, connect the dots

If the latest report that Barca are only prepared to offer 10m Euro max then keeping Garcia for another season makes sense. He will be on low wages and he can fill a gap for a season so even if we lose him for fuck all when his contract expires it means we only need to replace him next summer.

He wants to leave, so they either pay the money or he doesn’t play simple. They get a player who has not played for a year. Can’t have it both ways. It would destroy team morale playing a player who is leaving a year later. Pay up or shut up!

Like you I don't rate him much as he is as slow as fuck. However, I don't see the punishment option as being great for the club. If we keep him for another season then not playing him makes no sense.

I am sure other players who are committed to the club would be delighted in him playing rather than them. Pay up or shut up.

If garcia had 3 years on his contract would barca be going after him? Nope, they wouldnt even care either.
Its opportunistic transfer business.

The only reason it would/will happen is because hes come from barca in the first place and so he thinks they want him for some romantic reunion.
Not for me they dont, they just want to make sure we dont profit from one of their kids.

When he inevitably falls down the pecking order (or doesnt rise up it) and doesnt live up to the billing of piques example, he will be forgotten again.

Reminds me so much of diaz, small technically gifted but just not physical enough for a major professional league.

Take the profit and run with as much up front as possible because add-ons will be far from guaranateed.

You would think a Barca fan would understand that Pep does not choose who we buy or sell or what price that’s not his job

You'd think a reasonable City fan would comprehend I have pointed out that Pep is unlikely to punish Eric by sitting him for a year. There would be consequences I doubt he would want to entertain
