They can't defend partly because they have passengers in attack. Silva covers much more distance than Messi and we still are very vulnerable defensively when he starts. Energy and pace matter a lot.

Probably but I’m not privy to that. I’m just judging him on his performance on the pitch. Off the ball he was an absolute disgrace tonight. I’d be amazed if pep wanted to go near him to be honest

Messi has had no defensive workrate for years, tonight's performance is nothing new. In a team dominating the ball he is a killer, in a team that's under the cosh he's a liability.

You won’t be saying that when we play away at anfield and we can’t drop him to the bench because he’s messi and we get overrun. We’d have to be prepared to carry him in the big games defensively and frankly we ain’t even close to being good enough to carry anyone. No matter how gifted they might be!
Messi needs to go to Italy or france and continue his crazy stats. He’ll go down rightly so as the best player in the world. Come to city and us and him will both live to regret it!
