Lets be honest, Barcelona have no Chance to get rid of Messi. 100.000.000 Wages let that sink in. De Bruyne is like what 19m?

Barcelona are eternally fucked, they wont get rid of their old players. City is an example of getting rid of old arrogant machos

IMO Messi is still the best player on the planet but, IF we were to sign him we’d need to tear up our ‘total teamwork’ philosophy and introduce a bespoke system of play to support what Messi does so well (which doesn’t involve him pressing and which does involve every other player looking to give Messi the ball).
3 or maybe 2 seasons ago that would’ve been fine but he’s only got a couple of years left at his incredible level, so let’s pass on any such opportunity and maintain our current trajectory rather than rip it up for a season or 2 of short term gain followed by disarray.
It’s a nice notion to conjure with but it would be thanks but no thanks from me.

If we're talking money is no object then Mbappe please, age and a hole we need filling when Aguero leaves

I know Messi would boil some piss but for longevity and what we need I'd have Mbappe over Messi all day long

Dont be silly signing messi would
Pay for itself easily then thers the shirt sales.got easily 2 seasons left so why wudnt we want the best player ever to grace football?
Because he is past his best as you saw last night. A massive game that passed him by. Indeed Bayern were able to play in the Barcelona half leaving the likes of Boateng and Alaba wide open because they knew that Barca would be overwhelmed and would carry little threat. No way would they play like that against a Leo at the height of his powers.

They would. It would be suicide to play that way against Sterling and Jesus but they will as hopefully you’ll see onWednesday.

I think if Messi signed for us he would be up for a new challenge.
He's not quite at the level he was a few years ago but he's still better than 99% of other players.
Yet regardless of that, his wages would cause huge disharmony in the club and would be very disruptive.
If we could tempt any player to come here it would have to be Mbappe...he's young, lightening fast and will get better.
Although he would want crazy wages and again it would cause bad feeling in the dressing room..it isn't going to happen.

MBAPPE to City WILL NEVER HAPPEN if its a direct transfer from PSG, due to Region politics

100% Mbappe would boil more piss than Messi I think, our detractors would fume knowing our striker situation had just been sorted for the next 8-10 years with a talent that no one else could get near.

The only challenge left for Messi is winning the World Cup

Contract expires in 2022 at which point he is free to pick his own club. Agree that the political situation is a disadvantage to us but the same concept still applies. PSG can sell now for the highest bidder (i doubt they will), next year its last chance to sell so I would suggest there is a 70% chance he leaves next year. To what club? maybe they take 20% less from someone else than us but would they really take more of a hit? If we go in with £150m would they take less than £100m from someone else. I doubt it, and you have to factor in he has a say in it - where does he want to go? He could just run his contract out - in fact if I was his agent I would advise him to run it out.
