Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

This has to be his biggest challenge. Klopp made winning the UCL seem easy, got the pl title the next year.

I love Pep but enough with the "trophy padding"! winning the cups and community shield just to say "hey at least we won this trophy". Its time he stops playing ignorant.

The CFG know why he is here,The fans know why he is here,The media know why he is here surely Pep has to know this also!

The challenge is to win the UCL. He hasn't done anything out of the ordinary! Statistics are just fancy numbers thrown around by statisticians, football manager addicts and the media. What really matters is winning! Yes he won the title with 100pts, Bobby won it at the last day and Slippy Gerrard helped Manuel win the title but guess what? they all did the samething! It could even be said that Bobby's title winning team outperformed every other team we have had, considering the fact that they had never won the pl title and they showed mental strength to go 8 games unbeaten, in other words they knew what had to be done and did what had to be done, how many times has Pep team showed mental weakness? Bottled winning the league in front of the rags, bottled the Spurs game, Totally fucked it last night.

Most of his signings seem like trying to fit a square peg in a round / circular hole, totally out of place!

Lets not lie to ourselves, yes we don't get the credit we deserve for winning the league by 100pts but the truth is the UCL would define Pep's legacy here.
Klopp has gotten to the finals three times in 7 years! If Pep can't get us to atleast 1 final then something just doesn't add up.

A bit premature this thread and in any case given where we are Pep should either now commit to at least three years or walk away and let someone else rebuild things.

If Pep were to go I cannot believe that Vinny has not been mentioned. He knows the club, loves the club. Lampard seems to be doing a good job at Chelsea, and that twat at Old Toilet. Both ex players both with limited previous top level management experience. Neither seem to have a problem in tempting big names to play for them.

I suspect Vinny had a lot more influence off the pitch than many realised and his departure may have contributed to some of this seasons problems in more ways than we think.

We should offer Pep a new contract but give him an ultimatum about Gundogan playing every game, and the kind of football we expect to play in the Champions League.

When Pep leaves City will have to take a gamble a'la Lampard@ Chelsea/Arteta@Arsenal or Pirlo@Juve. The only manager who impressed me last season was De Zerbi at Sassuolo.

What about the atalanta manager? Dont know who it is, but surely hes done a decent job, crazy goalscoring team too.

Slept on it, still feel like he was pathetic for putting that team out past night. Clearly doesn't believe in his players, you put our quick players out and we go through. There is no justification for our best player out wide and packing the midfield with slow immobile passers.

And why put a 19 year old in defence who wants to fuck off, Stones far more experienced.

He doesn't believe our team who have scored over a 100 goals are capable of beating Lyon , piss off.

I was going to post the same. maybe even as a No.2 in Pep's final year to take over in his own right the following season.

To me Peps taken the team as far as we can go.
Barring a miracle next season we wont ever win the CL under him.
Bewildering tactics last night and many posters had written us off at 8pm, me included. Why pick Eric Garcia a man who wants to join Barcelona?
Why pick the slowest midfield in the world?
Why not just go for it with the attacking prowess that we have?
Why spend weeks praising Lyon a team that actually is not that great.
Pep turns into an idiot on knockout games and even more strange was post match he said the team wasn't ready to win the CL!
Not ready? Weve been in it 10 fucking years!!!

We need a new manager and new direction if we are to ever conquer Europe.

Gasperini, been managing since 2003 and not won anything. Has done a good job building his Atalanta team but only time he's been at a big club was Inter and he was sacked after a month.

Does Tikix go as well? I am sure Ferran is in for the long term with the CFG ( his baby) .

But tomorrow morning I hope all 3 are sat in front of Khaldoon and sort this mess out, because it is a mess.

Last night was embarrassing, after the decision at CAS things were looking up and that should have motivated everyone at that club to go and win the trophy and shove it UEFA's proverbial.

This morning the world of football looks on and sniggers again, and rightly so.

F.H.Lee was right, if there was a cup for cock ups we would be champions.
Maybe this is slightly controversial, bit Txiki should go when Pep goes. He hasn’t been a disaster or anything like that, but his transfer policy has been incredibly reactive, we completely missed the opportunity to build on the 100 point squad by basically sitting the last two summers out, and the incessant focus on gifted technical players who lack pace and/or physicality has left the team looking out of step with the best in Europe (would love to know who’s idea it was to potentially replace Leroy Sane with Mikel Oyarzabal for example). It doesn’t make any sense to me how we spend all this money yet still have inexplicable and obvious holes every single season; not signing a Vinny replacement being the most recent example, but the insane five year long leftback issue the most glaring.

I think, generally speaking, whenever you need to sign five or six players in a window, it probably means you’ve fucked up somewhere along the way, and we’re basically looking to do that now for the second time in four years. He seems like a good dude, has done the job he was brought in to do, but I think we need to start a new cycle with a new DoF.
