Whilst I was disappointed last season, I’ve seen THE best football of my life under Pep. Not all of his signings have worked out. But I would back his opinion over everybody on here.

My guess is one more, don't think it will be a left back, get the impression we'll use Ake and Mendy , Cancelo sometimes but think he'll play right back more next season. Can't decide whether it's a cm or an attacker we are looking for, maybe both. Personally would prefer somebody like Aouar and go 4231 with either Aouar or Bernardo alongside Rodri.

We don’t concede a lot of goals and the criticism is unfair at times. The problem is that we look ropey at the back.. You never get the feeling during the game that we are in control. Stones, oto, Garcia, even Laporte.

At some point you know we are going to let 1 in. Hopefully Kk and Ake can solve this issue. It should not matter if we use a High line or not. Competent defenders who can take charge and command the back 4 is essential to stop the fuck ups each time a player breaks through the middle. Sort that out and we will be a tough unit to break down.

Pressure will then ease on the forwards knowing they have faith the defence will do its job. Winning by 1-0 next season will confirm if we have sorted out the problem and have bought the right players. Watch Rodney be transformed.

We play such a high line we are prone to the counter attack . this has happened on several occasions this season. . its pace, reading the situation and tackling we need to solve. i beleive ake will help immediatley

Looks like a back 3 of koulibaly, laporte and ake with mendy and walker at wing backs. Rodri sitting and 4 attacking players. Course that can change with our squad but I think we're in for a change of system.

I think he is a terrible player, but each to their own.

Full backs should be able to defend, Angelino does not know the meaning of defending and he gives the ball away a lot in very dangerous situations.

I hear your opinion. Nonetheless, his mistakes may be brought about due to his lack of understanding of the system. A lot of players that have come in when Pep became manager have had to ‘learn’ the system before looking comfortable.

Like I said, he’s a good attacking WB. His defending won’t be great but he’s likely giving a team an extra 5-10 assists. Not the greatest at the defending but depending on the system, he’s not so bad.

That's certainly a factor yes. If you are Sheff Utd £90m has a different signifance than if you are Man Utd.

ANd the bottom line is Man Utd's defence improved with him in the side. Limited he maybe. 'Dreadful' no way. The English language becomes meaningless if you use it in that way.

They must have been really gash beforehand as, with him, they are still very poor

he hasn’t improved them one iota, if anything it’s come from a change in the fullbacks, where previously they were persisting with Young, Darmian et al.... that’s been freshened up with youth and been the biggest impact...

maguire is mediocre, Alf garnet could of turned him on his mobility scooter!

There was very high hopes that he would be a star, I used to watch him in the youth sides, looked a hell of a player, but then stagnated and somewhat regressed.

Nothing to do with systems, he is simply not a full back, and not good enough as a wingback, wide attacking player.

May have a good career is a lesser league but will never be good enough for us.

It's time to consign Maguire to the past. He has helped strengthen the rags defence but when the alternatives were Lindelof, Smalling and "the other" Phil that wasn't exactly a mountainous task. They certainly overpaid for him. From our standpoint he was certainly never a replacement for Vinnie and I don't think he would actually have been any kind of improvement; we've seen many examples of poor play, loss of concentration and very strange positional play and I suspect that we would be moaning by now that he was no better than Ottamendi or stones.

As for Koulibaly I know little or nothing at all but it sounds as though we're not expecting Vinnie mark 2 and that has to be realistic. Opinion on how good he is seems divided between blunders-in-waiting and City's very own VVD so I'm completely of BamberBridge's view - I'll follow Pep every time.
