Kalidou Koulibaly

RB say they want him, but can't afford. Think they were just playing the respectful we don't want him full time card!

With the current climate, they most definitely won’t mind and he suits them 100%. Some have mentioned him as part of a deal for Upemacano if the KK deal doesn’t go to plan.

That is a deal I would be all over if there was a chance, that kid looks quality, a beast of a player and can get so much better.

Looks like a back 3 of koulibaly, laporte and ake with mendy and walker at wing backs. Rodri sitting and 4 attacking players. Course that can change with our squad but I think we're in for a change of system.

That would make zero sense.
Besides Aké, Laporte and Koulibaly we'd only have Stones as back-up. Unless you count Harwood-Bellis (should be loaned), Otamendi (should leave) and Fernandinho (not a CB).

I'm sure Pep's gonna stick with 4-3-3. Of course he might use other systems in very specific situations, but it wouldn't make sense to build a squad around those rare occasions.

So if we do get Koulibaly, is that it?

Left back and defensive midfield are question marks too. Perhaps Koulibaly would add such power and dynamism that Rodri would no longer appear slow.
Whilst I understand where you're coming from, it might be worth remembering our disjointed defensive issues and lack of consistent midfield cohesion at the end of 16/17 was largely remedied by signing Walker and Ederson, as well as Pep later having a masterstroke with Delph.

I don't believe it strictly has to Kouliably, but signing him or someone similar can really allow a defensive stability that can work its way forwards through the XI.

He's been a very important part of their side since the day he turned up and was one of their best players in Lisbon, assisting the goal that sent them to their first SF. I can't think why they wouldn't want him.

Have we got any of our staff up in Scotland? Only asking as a citation jet from Italy is heading that wa and looks like its decending into Edinburgh!
Not getting desperate or clutching at straws or anything honest :)

I'm in Edinburgh at 7.00pm, I'll keep my eyes peeled.
