Angelino

Angelino left the EPL as he was not good enough, he joined the Dutch league and was one of the best LB`s in the league, he came back to the EPL and was not good enough, he joined the German league and was one of the best LB`s in the league, anyone notice the pattern?, Barca are apparently after him? i do not believe it but at least it reminds Red Bull that a lot of other clubs are looking at this player who will not command huge wages.

Can you give me specific mistakes he had made ? People keep saying x has made lots of mistakes this year or been rubbish yet we finished second and they don’t give specifics. I also do not think our problem this year has been errors as such players at our level don’t make many mistakes I am struggling to think of specific mistakes this year but that could be me plus pandemic playing with my memory I think our problem this year has been lack of ability to get back when teams attack on the counter and not performing as well in attack so not specific player errors

People say he did not perform against was it United and Liverpool but there not our every day opposition did he loose a header or something hardly major
It's lazy as fuck bullshit. I gave a detailed breakdown of all the goals we conceded a few weeks or maybe a month ago now and it was very conveniently ignored by the majority because it didn't fit the narrative that we make mistakes and our CB's are to blame for our results, Covid, climate change and Brexit. When actually you're correct, the goals we conceded were primarily from us losing possession in central midfield, nothing to do with defensive errors. Only two goals were defensive errors in my opinion (Walker letting Mane go at the back post and Otamendi not closing down I think Traore at Wolves), plus two Ederson errors at Trafford Park but they're goalkeeping and not defensive errors.

Thanks I think I am improving in my analysis of the game but I tend to forget specifics not helped by the pandemic and and when your at the game you don’t have replays to double check what you have seen or look what’s going on further away from the game but with the constant negativity on here I thought I was completely loosing it by being reasonably positive

Angelino is also home grown. Given there are likely lots of injuries due to messed up pre season and same number of games played in shorter time next season, even if we keep as a second choice LB he would get enough games.

Unless Pep plans Ake or Cancelo to play LB.

We haven't got a cf though ?

How many assists has Sterling got this season ?
We don't ask Sterling to do that job because he's not very good at it, likewise we don't ask Walker to do that job because he's not very good at it. Which was the response to the original post, Walker can't attack, well he can, he's just not very good at it.

As for a CF, who cares, we score more than anybody and he still doesn't provide many assists. Can he only cross to a Peter Crouch? If so, it validates my point further.

Sterling can't assist, from the wing but we should worry about Walker not being very good at it ?

How are the other fullbacks getting along ?

You'll get ignored for a while now for a few days because no one can back up the claims of defensive mistakes. Then in a few days they'll forget and start spouting the same old "our defenders are all shit and make lots of mistakes" bullshit to vindicate the signing of *add in name of their choice*

I never said we should worry about it, I simply replied to a post suggesting he was good going forward, pointing out he clearly isn't when you look at the stats and also the job we ask him to do because we understand his limitations. The same reason we don't ask Aguero to play CB or Sterling in nets.

Angelino did quite well at Lepzig from what I saw in a few games and is HG but keeping him is a complicated affair for us given our situation at LB and the need for someone who can defend given Mendy as the alternative.

On the right, Walker for example, can show his defending prowess whilst still having the pace and enough attacking nous for Pep (Although I will contend he is not as strong in that regard - crossing, passing, dribbling, creativity, shooting - as our other full/wing backs) and uses his pace primarily to create.

Ake is clearly part of the reason we are even more open to selling as I think he will get a good amount of games at LB because he can defend, has enough pace, and is technically strong. I sense this is the reason there's been little chatter on us signing a LB since he signed.

The £27m (€30m) is of course the option to buy clause that's in the loan deal so is what I gather is close to the fee expected, but interestingly that was before he performed so well, yet also before the pandemic.

I think if there was no pandemic and he did this well Lepzig might exercise it.
