Which sponsors will help back this deal in the present circumstances?

Covid and lack of spectators to me make this deal impossible to pull off even if he wanted to come.

It would be wonderful to see him in sky blue, but the cost is just too great, and we have bigger priorities at this time.

Pepsi?

The board hired a PR company called i3 ventures to create bot accounts on social media to attack Messi, his wife, and other people like Pique, Pep, Xavi who are seen as threats by the board.

And then they paid them €1 million, which an audit by PWC declared was 4x the value of the legitimate work they did, and then paid them in installments <€200k so that they didn't have to be publicly disclosed.

So when Messi says he feels like the board is leaking things to tarnish his standing with the fans, it's not paranoia.

this is quite interesting.

i did wonder how Barca would play this. Clearly they need to get rid of the salary and influence of Messi so they can properly move on and rebuild the team. The only issue is they need to do this without upsetting the fans, who still adore him for the most part........

popcorn cat gif ....

Tuchel at PSG after they just lost the CL final:

“He is very welcome! Which clubs says no to Messi? We have chosen not to speak about transfers. We will sit together in the next few days and have many things to do improve the squad and keep the level of the players that we missed here. I think Messi finishes his career in Barcelona. He is Barcelona.”

Publicly declaring him welcome is a very clever move by PSG

Wrong shade of blue.

Maybe Citi bank, especially with the sums involved.
I've 100% seen a picture of Mansour's son in a City shirt with " Citi bank" as the sponsor.
Was a couple of years back.Think it was something to do with a football academy/soccer school in Abu Dhabi?

Of course City will sign Messi if his father gives any indication to the City board that he wants to come here. City board would not be even debating this.

City signing Messi would make City iconic club even if we never win the Champions League. For that prestige alone, he is is worth it easily.

That iconic status would also make attracting players post Pep much much easier. It would be extremely short sighted not to sign him if it was indeed possible. I have no idea though if it is.

I really don’t want this deal and it would smack of trying to be a big club rather than actually operating like a big club.

You probably aren’t looking at too much in the difference between Messi and Mbappe, but one will give you 6 or more years and the other could break down by Christmas. At his age it makes no sense whatsoever to invest a cent into a deal...I don’t care how “epic” it sounds.

Put the money into Haaland. Pay Sane what he was asking for. Absolutely break the bank for Mbappe.

thats the moves we should be making, not spunking millions on what could be Michael Owen at Newcastle.
