Veronica Brunati seems to be the main source of info at the moment

Messi will take a huge pay cut to Play under pep

Gabriel Jesus valued at 100m
And will go the other way

Messi determined to leave
She said earlier in the day ‘the numbers have been agreed’, she later said ‘the numbers have not been agreed’. Not enough consistency here.

SSN sums up everything thats wrong in sports media, they still think its Circa 1982 with oudated ideas about football. Shirt sales hasn't been relevant to funding a player for about 15 years ! Why dont we see if the local butcher will give us a meat selection for the raffle prize at half time, who knows he may even sponsor todays match ball!!

I've heard they're doing name cards in Mary D's. Every little helps.

True. Shirt sales impact mostly your bargaining power in negociating with your kit manufacturer and ofc the sponsors.

What is interesting here is City was considering changing their main sponsor deal. Since those deals are almost always longer than the 2 year contract supposedly offered to Messi, you would recoup some money.

And let's be honest, City is not buying Messi to recoup the money but to try and be even more successful.
It does seem odd though adding an identical escape clause to the one he's currently planning on using to get out of his current club. Once bitten, twice shy and all that? Anyway I suppose with a player like this there needs to be that huge element of trust. Maybe it's similar to the way City have let Guardiola's contract run down, trust.
It is Messi. If he asks for that clause, you give it to him. The older he gets, the less likely other teams will try to poach him anyway.

As you said, you managed to keep Guardiola longer than Bayern Munich. If you are competitive (and you are), Messi has no reason to leave.

Nothing strange with a two year contract with option to leave after 1 year imo. just is there to protect Messi in case he has a torrid time, family can’t settle , we have a terrible season etc all of which are unlikely.

We are a fantastic club to play for hence why we rarely lose our key players .

I don't understand the release clause. On the face of it it is simple but then we have the Webster ruling where players can buy out the last year of their contract which would render such a clause useless?
