Shows you the difference in the way clubs are run really.

Here our legends who are getting older have the full support of the board and if they decide to leave then we allow them for free or for very minimal sum, we respect the decisions of players who have given us a lot.

Barca is completely different. They would happily drag their best players through the mud.

Missed another 100 pages. Can anyone give me a recap what’s happened today? ITK and plane tracking stuff, not the media shite

Not having any of this nonsense just reported.

He wants out, no party wants court action, a compromise will be reached.

City/ Messi buy out his contract, everyone comes out of it looking good, Messi signs and Barca move on, hopefully to upsetting the scousers with a bid for Marne.

Just hope Tixki remembers that LB!

If FIFA decided it, I think they would only award Barca a fraction of what they are asking, so it would make sense to let Messi leave for a reasonable price.

But maybe they are hoping City will sign him & they will be awarded more, so will just gamble it & see.

But it's possible Messi may leave for nothing, of course.

It’s war and Barca’s stance is to be expected.
They need to get something now for Messi and the first move unsurprisingly is to ask for the lot.
They know perfectly well this will never happen but it’s their starting point for negotiating a deal with us.
The question is will we stick and go down the court case route for a free transfer which may take months, or do we deal and offer players they want (Garcia and Angelino) plus cash as a sweetener in order to sign him now.
The last thing Barca want is to pay him for 12 months to play golf and silly buggers in the dressing room...of that we can be sure.

Guys, the Barcelona board is a panic mode right now. I feel Messi is giving them a chance to end on good terms and for them to get something from his exit.

He doesn't want to take this to the courts. If he does take this to the courts, he knows he can leave on a free. Messi is in his rights to leave the club for free, but because of his love for Barcelona.... he doesn't want to do that to them. But I feel he will do it in the last resort. I do feel this will be negotiated out and that Bartomeu will have to just accept it.

Relax. This has been coming for a long time. A player doesn't make a decision like this one day, and then walk it back the next.
I agree mate I'm not fussed on what that you tuber said, more the storys that barca want the release clause or nothing. If messi really wants out they have to negotiate they will have no choice.

What's this got to do with Fifa?

Genuinely don't think either party will want that, the President can't have a fan mutiny on his hands, he will go through all the PR crap, saying he did everything to make him stay but at the end of the day will reach a compromise with player and City.

TBH, these are all pointless updates trying to make news out of some random thoughts. Nothing will go further until Messi and his dad arrive at Barcelona and meet with the president.

If Barca insist on the release clause, I think Messi will do whatever it takes to get out.

FIFA could arbitrate on it, rather than him taking them to court.

Not claiming to be ITK but a source tells me that the plan is tonight Messi and Bartomeu will meet up to hash it all out, the idea is that by Monday they're all set and can put behind them the debate as to whether it's a muffin or a barm.

Bartolomeu is going to make it very painful for Messi to get away from Barca
Not necessarily. They may have decided that it is better to sever their relationship, and they know they are never going to get a fee for him. Barcelona's board are in a difficult position now. The player is unhappy and he is 33. Do they really want to continue to base their side around him? It's not working. The time has come to move on for all concerned. I can see City allowing Garcia and possibly Angelino to move to barcelona with an additional cash settlement. What else can a club do when a player makes such a stance?
