Up until now, I have not see Bartomeu show any class, honor or respect in his actions - he has skirted the rule/letter of law repeatedly for his own gain. Has the feel of him feeling the need to go the nuclear route and now baiting Messi to get Figo'd by the media

Smart play by Messi to push for the peaceful route just as it was by Bartomeu to 'offer' his resignation for him to stay. I don't see Messi going public until a resolution is achieved which makes me wonder if another player will need to enter into it to tilt the balance. Not sure Pep wants to be seen as the one to take Messi from Barca publicly either, I wonder if a club legend will go public like Puyol, Xavi or Iniesta

Pep,was always asked about messi coming here,
He said messi is Barca,he will retire there,
So no animosity from pep,
But when they spouted shit about the cas case,
Pep opened his mouth,in other words I no how you've ran your club inside out.
So be quite,So to me it's just shows you how thick bartSimpson is,calling a club out while your ex manager is in charge and will no everything that's gone on.
I doubt pep will get involved until it get messy & then I think he will back messi.

Interesting legality here. FiFA and UEFA bent the rules to extend the 30th of June deadline to the end of the season for rolling on of player contracts. Yet Barca want to have the 30th June deadline written in stone.
I smell CAS needing to be involved.

Seen by Bartomeu as collusion for advising the player on how to leave

Interesting. It's really open warfare, I'm sorry for Barca fans that it's happening like this. Whatever the outcome it must be quite damaging.

You really are missing the key piece here - friendship.

I think I said earlier but it's worth repeating: even if his interpretation is incorrect, it is clear that Barcelona are breaking the spirit of the agreement. It is an argument over semantics. What was he supposed to do, end his contract mid season?

The board is exploiting the covid situation to box him in. He will consider that an enormous betrayal. If they force him against his will in this way, I can only imagine how angry he would be. He will never sign another contract with Barcelona.

He's definitely not signing a new contract, certainly not with Bartomeu anyway. But that still doesn't change the tilt in power, it's back in the hands of the rat

I worried it might but fortunately most are seeing it sensibly IMHO

But I have to say, this bizarre roller coaster saga may indeed have hit a snag I didn't anticipate - Messi's contract interpretation appears to have been in error which does not appear to be a Bartomeu tactic. If true, explains the rumours of a u-turn - unless Bartomeu sets his price & gets it (Which does not appear to be the case), Leo may have to remain until June

Wow
Why is it in error? The season was extended, fifa hasnt spoken yet to confirmed the end of the season date

We're assuming what was leaked on the details of the contract were accurate, much less its interpretation. The consensus now appears to be ironclad, to the opposite.

Perhaps tomorrow it will swing back the other way but for now, the narrative has absolutely made a u-turn as predicted earlier

so you’d think your own legal team would have the clause & his contract nailed right? They’d surely not advise this course of action if it was wrong or wouldn’t stand up if challenged.
