How about Messi says he is signing for city and believes he can do so for free he signs for City but deposits a seasons wages in lawyers account or with Barca and say that his back up position is the webster ruling and he has bought out his contract but will sue to get it back at later date so that he can focus on starting the season in time because Barca would not allow negotiation or legal issues to be resolved

My thoughts exactly

Not officially but you would be naive to think players don’t speak to managers before joining clubs

For sure but speaking is one thing, meeting in person is another. Seems a bit risky given the situation if true, especially with the authorities finding any excuse to punish us

I hope if we sign Messi before anyone else we flood the announcement with just announce Koulibaly. Would be fun

I honestly don’t know but if the testing is a standard requirement prior to being allowed to attend training I would have thought there would be a sanction for wilfully not doing so.

But maybe there isn’t any sanction ? Which would perhaps explain his lawyers advice (is this what you were getting at NK?)

Yes, because it's not a typical football thing is it ?

There are your normal rules & regs, but you wouldn't have to take an experimental drug, to get you fit for example.

It could be, that just as Messi's contract has no direct clause in it for the end of the season being moved due to a pandemic, there may be nothing in his contract which says he has to take a Covid test.

Drugs tests etc will be in there yes, but Covid test ?

I wonder.
