If we manage to get this over the line I don't see us paying or giving them any players as he will be a free transfer giving him shares will cover a huge signing on fee and the extra revenue we get from having him play for us will more than cover his wages.
“Garcia, Gundo, Stones, Otamendi, Cancelo, Zinchenko and Angelino, they can have their pick, but we will not be sending any tier one their way.”
Doesn’t sound that way.

We won’t be giving Barça a penny, nor are we giving Messi any. He’ll get shares that can be cashed in when he leaves, I assume based on targets etc. If he completes his co tract with us then £180m will seem like nothing when we have made much much more off him being here.
What about the £375k a week mentioned?

IF he comes and IF he gets paid a portion of his income via equity, it's a MASTERSTROKE. Increased sponsorship revenue will come in to the club WITHOUT significant associated expense. Creating increased profit and supporting future transfers.

However, not sure how FFP addresses the issue of player salary/compensation coming from a back ended share call option. On the surface I'd guess FFP has never thought of this.
My worry is ffp.
We’ve just dodged a bullet and it sounds like we’re sticking our head down the barrel.
It might not be a rule now, but they can soon change that, they have before and we got fucked in the arse.

Did you read it? I think it’s a pretty good article.

Statement: City’s problem is defence: TRUE

Statement: City’s weakness is without the ball: TRUE

Messi is not known for running his ass off in games anymore and press the opposition, so no matter how excellent he is at attack, our pressing would get worse with him on the field, something a side like Liverpool could take advantage off. On the positive side, Messi with his insane skills will probably unlock most teams we’ll face.

If he in fact join us, it’ll be VERY interesting to see how Guardiola would handle Messi when realizing we’re lacking press up front. Can we expect him to run his legs off until he’s 35?

Messi is a wonderful footballer, but not all of his attributes will be beneficial.
Forgetting messi has played for Pep before and knows entirely what he expects, Messi is a straight professional and would be coming for footballing reasons to win, he’ll follow the plan as much as anyone else I’ve no doubt about that

They have shifted the goal post before... So i am vary of it. I m sure after the past year experience, city would too

Let’s hope so.
We’ve been told sponsorship would cover the deal so just seems a weird and risky way of doing the deal.

Stop worrying about getting a defender,it will be sorted
Messi will be rejuvinated by his move and freedom ,he will have runners all over the place

Exactly he has runners all over the pitch - Sterling, KDB, Jesus, Walker, Torres and even Ferna

Our team has the legs to accomodate him

City’s problem is defence: False I’m afraid. Conceded 36 v Liverpool’s 35(tightest defence in the league).

Our problem has been closing games out where we have had 70% possession, 29 shots on target and no goals.

In my humble opinion.
