Guardian claims Messi wont improve City

Their argument is that Messi post Guardiola has a very low workrate - "low regains", and that City's weakness is defending, rather than attacking.

This is obviously a very unbalanced article but I do think they have a point in that if we sign Messi we absolutely have to be able to shut up shop at the back, and it will make it more important for City to get the right central defenders and defensive midfielders in place.

It has been written purely to smear and play down Manchester City making the biggest signing in English football history. The author also absolute hates our club. It’s worrying that you have to post his material to make your points.

All of these before Messi stepped foot in Barcelona. Perhaps you are making the same mistake that Messi is. No one player is bigger than the club.

Messi will sign for city, but let it be known that anything short of a Champions League will be a utter failure.

Bringing Messi in to the tune of 50 million euro a season net pay will create a massive gap in the salary structure of any team.

As a Barcelona fan I can tell you that if you are looking or a leader, he ain’t it. He will no doubt bring you glorious evenings of soccer at the Etihad. I will be right there to wish the team well, but you gotta ask yourself if it’s worth bringing a guy who’s displaying the worst of examples of leadership and gratitude to a club that made him the person he is today.

Is true we need to tighten up, but the idea Messi doesn't improve things is, well, bollocks isn't it.

Barca trying to bluff us but have instead been caught with their pants down.

If they were wrong about the release clause they are probably wrong about leaving for free.

Barca trying to save face by getting us to negotiate. No wonder then Want Messi to sign a new deal
