Lionel Messi will make a U-turn on his Barcelona future and put pen to paper on a new three-year deal.

That’s according to former Premier League and England footballer Danny Mills, who told talkSPORT he expects the superstar to stay put.

Has there ever been a bigger wanker to put a City top on??

Mods close the thread please. Danny Mills has spoken, it's all off. I know that he has great inside knowledge of the workings of Barcelona and for good measure & for journalistic integrity he will have spoken to Messi direct to confirm his thoughts.

To change Messi's decision, it would have to be a radical change, Barcelona does not have the money or the leaders to solve all the problems that have been asked for many years, the problems are from a transformation of years, Messi cannot wait .

Question. if Messi wants to sign then he needs to be registered with the Premier League. If they except his registration do they except any liability?

So if I we take it that the latest reports about his contract are correct (e.g.below) andHthe release clause does not exist in his last season, how does that effect a transfer fee?

He is still registered as a Barcelona player at the moment so I assume he can get out of his contract by paying the value of his final year's contract to FCB, and hence there would be no fee payable by Man City to FCB but City might compensate the player?

It's difficult to wade through everyone's comments to find relevant views.

If that is correct Messi’s legal team are in a win-win situation if they go to court. Spanish court decides his request is tied to last season, he goes for free. Court rules that the June 18 date has passed, we pay some fee similar to Ronaldo’s, but not the 700m clause.

If some first-team players have to go in the other direction, who'd you prefer to make way?

Think Mahrez would be a natural casualty, and maybe Gundogan too. Would prefer to keep Jesus, Garcia & Angelino, but Messi is Messi so whatever it takes to get the deal done
