but it’s looking like it will take a compromise figure of over £100 million plus Jesus & Garcia to prize Messi from Barcelona
It's nonsense all this keeping good future relations.
We tried that in the past with all clubs and it got us nowhere. Well in fact it landed us in court.
If we can get him on a free all the better.
We are now getting on the front foot and other clubs just better stay out of our way!
Tabas is now realising what happens when you start personal agendas.
Barca thought nothing of tapping up Garcia and wanted him for peanuts. We haven't done the same with Messi as it was him wanting out and reaching to us. I would even go as far as telling Barca £50m for Garcia or he stays another year.
Hopefully Bayern are next on our hit list.
City bosses knew all this was coming months ago. Khaldoon's end of year speech had all the info in it.
That we will alter our age range and spending if the right player comes up. Everybody though he was referring to Koulibaly.
I like how he made a big point of how we deal with letting loyal servants go without a struggle. "Aguero goes when Aguero decides" has a lot more meaning now.
So any thoughts that we haven't combed Messi's contract and have any doubts should be dismissed.
We will have looked at all angles and outcomes. It's how we do things.
Stuff happening this week, is just housekeeping. Messi has to do his legal bit and tie up loose ends.
His dad has to do some legal work in regards to image rights/sponsors still tied to Barca etc. So i imagine he would need to meet the Barca board to get that done.

I would say City are relaxed, what I like is so far everyone inc us on here has said allsorts from contract no contract he is free or 700m whattever but nothing from City?????
We all know he wants out but not 1 part of his team or Citys have mentioned its Us.

What will be will be I’m pretty sure City have their line in the sand agreed. I must admit it would be fantastic not only for the team but also as a big fuck you to the shit we were dragged through. I’m not a turn the other cheek kind of guy. Plenty would be choking on their cereals lol.
My line considering the wages(official or not) will be eye watering is 100 mill max in straight money or Garcia plus Mahrez. If it was Garcia and Jesus or Garcia and Silva(and that’s all no money on top) I would start feeling a bit down about it.

I don’t like the term stat padding but I think in terms of Jesus his numbers are bolstered by that. It isn’t to say he’s a great talent but for me on the big occasions or against the bigger teams or important matches he doesn’t flourish. There are examples when he has don’t get me wrong, Madrid home and away he was excellent but when you are looking at them stats have a look at the majority of the opposition. Have a look at any match winning goals or points gaining moments.

100% agree.
Jesus reputation suffers from the idea that he is next in line to Aguero, so he is constantly compared to that benchmark. But Aguero's stats are a major outlier, he's been one of it not the best goalscorer in the league for a decade, it would be no surprise if we didn't see another goalscorer like him play for City in our lifetime.
Compare him to the other strikers in the top 4 teams: Robert Firmino, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Timo Werner. The stats and the eye test are favourable. Tbh I feel the way a lot of City fans talk about him shows that we've become a little bit spoiled.
