I can see 4 outcomes here as we stand.

1. The reports are correct and messi has decided to stay for the last year of his contract, due to being unable to find a way to leave amicably.

2. The reports are correct and messi has changed his mind and will stay and he will sign a new deal.

3. The reports are incorrect and messi still intends to try and leave and the reports are from the barca side to muddy the waters.

4. This is a plan to panick Barca into thinking they will lose messi for free next summer and they then agree to negotiate.

All the above are all still possible until we here otherwise from the messi camp.

if he stays at barca does city walk away completely and not revisit next season ? or will city still want him after all this

maybe we need to focus on the new messi phil foden, he could be the best in the world for the next 10 years and his stock will only grow and grow, getting pissed off with all this messi thing now. we really need to focus on the squad and team for the new season in 2 weeks time

we still have not gone in the market for a replacement for kompany, this should be more focus on and done and dusted and not chasing around barcelona in hope messi leaves ? come on city please lets get back to the first team squad
we have some cracking players and with or without messi will be there or there's about for titles

If he stays then I doubt he'll be leaving next summer either. The president will be gone and Pep might not be at City after next season.

I don't see anything that is surprising. Messi is doing his thing by not engaging with the president and he clearly wants to come. This is a great sign to be frank. He's keeping his stance and not budging. Good for him. Bless the guy he's doing his best. Although I have nothing to say about the president but the guy is already put in the corner hence the Barcelona propaganda. He's scrambling actually haha.That's what I feel.
