@Dobsy Possible and the optimist/romantic in me hopes for it but there’s the reality of the shite show ongoing

Yeah I'm sure it's easier for me from a distance to piece it together that way without understanding all of the complicating detail. Also I grew up in the late 90s/early 2000s: City fans from that time are naturally pessimistic because it was the worst era in the history of the club. If you think Bartomeu has been bad ...

A more positive outlook could be: if/when City get Koulibaly I reckon we'll have a really strong season, the atmosphere will be positive again and we will go big for a striker next summer when Aguero leaves, Kane maybe. Pep will be very tempted to stay as the whole project is designed for him to lead and to alleviate the intense pressure he puts on himself.

To be 1st team coach, I have not claimed this either. To return to the club in some other capacity, absolutely certain and he has said it

He specifically cited coaching youth in La Masia at Barca. Spin it like you want but no one is more blaugrana than Pep

He's been here long enough for us to know, what he says and what he does....

Not saying he won't btw. I just wouldn't take what he says too seriously. I think he's enjoying a chilled time compared to the Billy Smarts he's had to work under. Probably what turned Messi's head. A chance to enjoy footy without all the bollocks.

You look at how Arsenal, Chelsea and the rags are starting to strengthen and improve. Throw a couple of additions into the dippers squad and if we don't add another two or three top quality signings ourselves this season we will be second best again. At minimum we need a top quality centre back and defensive midfield player. Both of these need pace and power due to our system. We have lost Silva, Ferns legs have gone, Rodri and Gundogan are too slow and as promising as Foden is he is a couple of years from being the answer just yet. Up front we need something different and a bit more physical to unsettle defences. Aguero has it but he's not getting any younger and if he's injured we miss him a lot. Our goals scored looks great but that is mainly due to hammering the likes of Watford. Last season was a wake up call, hopefully the powers that be will heed it.
We will strengthen enough to get 95 points plus. Have chelsea or arsenal stregthened enough to get over 90, no. United haven’ t done anything much van de Beek will give a bit of rotation in midfield nothing more.

1) He didn't call them shit.

2) He probably expected support during the 2 weeks he was trying to leave and the board were using a cunts trick to try and make him sue to leave?
Yes ok he didn't use the word shit.

He threw the club, the owners and the squad under the bus.

Who was he expecting to support him when he said he wanted to leave? Surely not present players and present board members?

The only support came from Font, a candidate for being the next president of the club who said he would support Messi and ensure a smooth transition out of the club.

Pep & Txiki live & work here. Not in Barcelona. They are just trying to nick their best player, right now.

Would Anderlecht fans be quizzing us on Vincent Kompany coming back here, if he was currently busy trying to steal KDB off us on a free transfer ?
Anderlecht fans are wise enough to know if Kompany proves himself as a manager/coach it would be only a matter of time before we came knocking.

Do not underestimate the feeling Pep and Tixki have for all things Catalonian and Barca.

I see arsenal have signed a center half and utd a midfielder scousers hardly linked with anyone chelsea yes but to say arsenal and utd have strengthened more than us is laughable yes we probably need a center back but we have got 5 on the books atm so at least 1 needs shifting. Liverpool look like they are gonna stand still a back up left back bought and the possibility of losing there best midfielder despite there winning margin last season they was not head and shoulders above the rest alot of dodgy decisions and last minute wins and they had a belief a early loss or 2 at the start of this season could really hurt them.

It will depend on his belief in his own performance imo.

If the team is improving, he'll almost certainly stay. If it's stagnating he'll go. If it's like the Lyon game, he'll be gone by Christmas.

To be honest I can't see any team getting over 90 points this season. It's going to be tough for all, a long , compressed season.

So he's lying repeatedly when he says he'll never be their manager again & can't handle all the shit we are seeing right now & much prefers working here ?

How are you not realising that they deserve to be criticised?

I mean seriously the board hired a PR firm to create bot followed accounts to attack Messi's family on twitter and whip up anti-Messi sentiment in the fans, but him criticising the president is supposed to be unacceptable?

Bartomeu spends £375m on Griezman and Coutinho (who both only play in Messi's position, making them useless) when Neymar wanted to come back, because he didn't like the optics of it. But how dare Messi criticise it!

Pique, a bloke who screamed at Bartomeu "you did this' when they came off the pitch in the game that lost them the title, suddenly has too much respect to support Messi?

IF the club came calling and would give him carte blanche to repair the damage done in the last 5 years, yes, I do think he could return.

And if Messi does not come to us, I expect him, Pep, to leave at the end of the season regardless if he returns to Barca or not.

Pep has a way of talking what people want to hear, it's what intelligent people do.

I think if we go for Messi next season (imho we shouldn't) , it should be done at a greater discretion and authority than how we pursued Messi this time. Just tell him we won't be fighting your battles for you buddy. His lawyers should absolutely makes sure that he is out this time around before Bartomeu finds out another technicality in the contract and catches Messi by his balls again.
He could obviously polite refuse to come here. But we don't need another 500 million action plan or some creative accounting for a 34 year old. Portuguese Ronaldo is a freak of nature and couldn't improve Juventus both financially or in Football. No guarantee Messi will do that for us.

That's it absolutely.

It was stressing him out. He doesn't want it in his life.

It's nothing to do with that. It's about his own wellbeing. He doesn't want that shit in his life.
If he had ever had 2nd thoughts, this circus would confirm it.

Maybe, ut lets not forget Pep and Klopp are very experienced. The others ha e coaches still learning their trade non of lampard, arteta or solskaer will be taking teams to the title yet?

If I read the original post correctly, his point was that there are areas of our squad which need to be improved , namely a decent central defender to play with Laporte as well as some mobility in a defensive midfield player as opposed to what we currently have.

I don't see anything laughable about his assessment , just the opposite in fact. Those flaws in our game were quite apparent last season.

Well maybe seeing your wife and kids go back to Barcelona is stressing him out, maybe his best mate not completing the deal for a CB last summer, stressed him out to.

The whole family is living in Manchester. The wife popped back for a couple of months to sort her business out with the youngest daughter, but they're all back now.

Not sure what experience has got to do with getting 90 plus points.

Injuries will play a big part this season for all, a lot of football in a short time, it will take it's toll.
