Angelino

Leipzig was very clever on this deal.If he turns out impressing again in their side they get him much lower than the 25m pounds which was in his recent loan deal as option. And 1.5 year they have him on loan too in all and he is still only 24 next summer.
If he flops, they wont even play him later on and send him back to us next summer.

He is a better LB than Zinchenko, while Mendy is a conundrum. Can imagine Pep opting for Ake/Cancelo in LB spot more often after a few silly games from Zinch and Mendy again.

At least he has a resale value. We can’t give ota away no one is interested in zinch. I do think Mendy will come good this year. It is make or break for him now. He needs to be in the team regularly tho no more in and out. Ake cancelo not bad to have as cover.

The books needs balanced and could also be a reason we accept low fees for players.

This whole deal is a head scratcher for me. We send him back to the same team he excelled at last season, with a lower cost to buy and a mental buy back price option. I'd understand if he was shit while on loan, but he got into the team of the season for Champs League. While i can see that the current transfer climate isn't what it was, teams are still paying good money for shitter players.

Ok. (sigh) Who was offering more for him? (empty look)

(Bigger Sigh) so we just ignore the market, where Villa have just paid £33m for a player from BRENTFORD? £16m for a player from Nottingham Forest, Palace paid over £20m for a QPR player. Leverkusen bought Schick for £23m and Dortmund got Bellingham, who's played in the Championship, for £24m! On top of this, we know they just sold their prized asset so have money to spend. As usual, City bending over backwards to accommodate others.

The market value of any player is the price a buying club is prepared to pay and a selling club prepared to accept. Just this.

There was no other interest and the negotiation was hardly a rush job. It is what it is.

The other variable is Angelino’s wishes. He’s party to this. He may have expressed a view it’s Leipzig or I’ll stay. Let’s face it there aren’t that many clubs playing 3 at the back & playing Champions League football in the top 4 European leagues. He also just had a good half season after a poor half season with us.

Have a think about the last transfer out where we have had the upper hand. Maybe Unal? At a push, Brahim? I think we should just face the music, when it comes to selling players, we aren't a good selling club. I can't believe for a moment that there was a long line of clubs queuing up for Lovren, but somehow Liverpool still managed to get a good fee for the donkey.

Has this deal actually been done ? Do we actually know anything ? I know that everyone is reporting it as done but has there been an official announcement ? Nothing on city site A lot of sites reporting the transfer fee but I think there will also be a loan fee plus bonuses and a sell on surely that usually how we operate I notice someone on here posted a loan fee. Also if he meets the requirements around games do we have to accept an offer or do they just have to bid I could imagine one of Zinchenko and or Mendy going next summer if the market picks up Angelino might be more suited to left back than Zinechenko who might move to play midfield and we might choose to cash in especially if he does well at the Euros and Mendy could have another injury Plus pep still has not signed a new deal so could be gone would potentially have new system next year Maybe someone perhaps PSG come back in for him next year and pay more

Yep Red Bull Leipzig have announced earlier on and it has been discussed a few pages back. They have also signed Benjamin Henrichs on loan as well.

Sané was a good price for just 12 months on his contract and the only other one I can think of is Iheanacho. Sancho’s wasn’t bad under the circumstances tbf.

Personally, I think player recruitment, senior player sales & U18/EDS pathways are areas of relative weakness. However, over the last 9 years I’d say on the pitch performance outcomes have more than outweighed these deficiencies & we have a corporate side of the CFG that’s unparalleled.

That said, I’d like to think that senior management are aware and will look to address those relative weaknesses but all the time taking the broader view of the definition of “success” and recognising you can never be completely perfect. I know I would.

I would say we did well with Gunn Ihenacho Mooy and also a few others we sold past there peak or that we did not want who at one point we thought we would give away Navas Garcia Negredo I think etc though we did not make money mind you Navas looks good at RWB now

Think the EDS pathway has improved this last season

Erm... Considering Zin ain't a LB by trade and Angelino is, that wouldn't be hard to do. And to make that even more curious, he's only MARGINALLY better than a mid playing as LB!!

Why do people keep making this insertion that Zin is a LB, anyway...??

Why do people keep saying he’s not a LB when his entire city career has been at left back? We all know he came as an attacking midfielder and plays there for Ukraine but he will never play anywhere else for us so as far as city are concerned he’s a LB

He's as much a LB as Fern is a CB, i.e., not eithers natural position, but can play if asked.

That's the bottom line.

Except Fernandinho played 4/5 seasons in midfield for us before switching. zinchenko has played about 10 minutes in midfield in a City shirt. He played a handful of senior games before coming here, he’s probably played more senior games at left back than he has anywhere else. Kyle walkers played in net for us more than zinchenko has played in midfield. For city at least, he’s a LB.

Scored 2 in Europa league last night. Far better than mendy both attacking and definitely no worse defensively. How about this for an idea, get zabaleta back in to work with him on the defending side. Has all the raw talent that Robertson has for me.

I've been a fan of Angelino since the youth team days, but, like Cancelo, he's an attacking asset, not a defensive one & also like Cancelo, he can become pretty much invisible in that job.

The other thing people have to consider is his aerial ability, which would make SWP a threat at corners if Angelino was marking him.

Angelino is not a fullback, same as with Cancelo. If we are playing wing backs, both are an option.

He is being One of the best left back in Europe think we get around €20m for him end of the season hopefully we put in a sell on clause

Playing 3 at the back with him and Cancelo would be a wonderful option.
