Have we let him down?

We appointed a caretaker manager Pellegrini while we waited for his presence.

We signed KDB at his request.

We got rid of a legend Hart as goalkeeper , spent big on Bravo, a failure, did the club question? No , they went and bought Ederson.

We completely rebuilt our defence after the first season at his request.

We have paid him 13 MILLION pounds a season

He has the finest training facilities in the world to work in.

He asked for a new medical team, he got it.

The club have backed this man to the maximum, now it's time to show some loyalty to the club.
We haven't replaced Kompany. It's almost unforgiveable that Kompany retired in 2019 and we still haven't replaced him especially given that at the end of last season the young player who was in line to take the right sided defensive role announced that he wanted to play for Barcelona.

I don’t understand how the club decided to not sign a striker when our number 1 is potentially out until mid to late November. Absolutely crazy to rely on Jesus to fill a role which he has been incapable of doing so for the past two years. I can’t see this Jesus being born again as a competent finisher, so the recent news is extremely concerning.

Why we haven’t signed a RCB is another mystery. We needed one last year and we still haven’t got one. Another season of Otamendi and Stones. Can’t wait to see fucking Traore bully one of them again.
Jesus not capable for last two years, really?

100%.

I’m sure they will get a right Centre back in but if they don’t get a top goal scorer in then unpopular opinion but we can forget the league and could struggle for 2nd place. No doubt get lots of shit for saying that but anyone who thinks it’s OTT come back at the end of the season.

This had to be a big summer with 2-3 players who go straight in and make the difference. Ake is top cover and improves the squad, Torres has lots of potential. But if the right Centre back is all we do to immediately improve the first 11 then it’s been a disaster of a transfer window for the 2nd summer running.

Ake is more than cover

He was captain at Bournmouth - he is a leader

Pep has said he will use him potentially in 2 positions (the other being left back)

Ake himself has said he has been working with city coaching staff on 3 positions - the other being defensive midfield.

I think we may see more of him than you realise and for me that is a good thing - he is a very good defender and may even push Laporte for a starting spot at centre half.

He brings possibilities in that he can playa. variety of positions.

Torres replaces Sane who didnt pay all last season and didnt want to be here - that is an automatic improvement!

Look at how fast Spurs hve just done those last two deals - they were barely in the media really and then suddenly they had them done.......

We have 2 weeks left so there is plenty of time......

Lots of the background work will be done already even on the plan B's - we are just waiting to see if we can get the Plan A's done - and if not I tihnk we will then see the club move very fast to secure the plan B's

e.g Koulibaly is probably the plan A but we have been linked with various other centre halves as well - if we decide not t deal with ADL and his meglomaniac ways then we will move quickly for plan B - the work for which will have already been done.
That's true but I don't see why we should take such risks with a fundamental position on the pitch. You can get by with a dodgy left back but if you're playing Fernandinho as centreback you will lose a lot of games.

Would rather we wait for the right person than hastily buy the wrong one. Ever thought the club might be thinking similar?

we had our day in court everyone was predicting a big summer of recruitment and a £200 million pound war chest and we’ve what spent £61 million on the eve of the season on a premier league proven defender and a exciting winger/ forward who could be anything.

Even without those 2 signings this starting 11 for wolves will prob feature 9 of the team that pumped Liverpool 4-0 two months ago.

we had a dreadful season last year that’s why they won the league at a canter not because they were amazing!!

Leeds carved them open last weekend at Will.

no fans will hurt them also.

it’s a 2 horse race still.

let’s not shit our knickers just yet boys and girls.

Firstly I dont think its taking a risk - its how it HAS to be done - owners like ADL and Bart whether we like it or not have the right to say no IF that player has a contract and if they dont want to sell him - its just how it works. The plan B is all about minimising that risk as well.

You have to remember that we are dealing with some owners who are absolute power mad control freaks - there is nothing you can do about that - they are as bad and if not worse than politicians.

Lastly Id say our dodgy left back could be considered an equal importance BUT Im guessing the club want to give Mendy (who they invested in heavily) a chance to prove his worth with a run of games at peak fitness. No matter how much you or I disagree on Mendy's worth to the team (and Im one of his biggest critics Id guess) the club have to protect that investment and give him a chance - if we were to abandon that and just try and sell him we would get very little for him - play him nd if he fails but at least proves his fitness then we would possibly get more when/if we tried to sell him.

agree on most of that but II think it will be more than a 2 horse race

If chelsea's signings click they could do well (they didnt look great last week but it will take tie and I fully expect them to come good)

Utd will be better this season - it pains me to say it but they will

I hate Jose with a passion (and spurs) - but if he gets his counter attacking system right (this is not definite however) they could do reasonably well

I dont expect Utd or spurs to be title rivals BUT they could take points off us, the scousers etc as could chelsea so it could be a lot closer

Koulibaly or Koundé: who is coming?

Thre seems o be only a few vague links to Kounde (who ive never seen play btw) so there is a possibility that its just rumours. However he could also be a very viable plan B to Koulibaly (which you need when dealing with ADL)

chelsea have too many new signings to integrate in a team which is still finding its identity, next season they will challenge for the title for me I think top 4 at best.

Other clubs making moves but torres and ake apart, i thought we would have sorted the cb issue

Also we seem to be relying on aguero too much, injuries are catching up with him and he now might miss the first 2 months of the season. He is dynamite when fit but he seems to be injured more now when needed the most

Ive all summer Ake was quality and buzzing that we signed him so preaching to the converted there. But Pep even said yesterday he has been brought primarily as a Centre back.

Torres for Sané has improved the squad but Sané didn’t start many big matches since 2017-18. I’m talking about improving the first 11, particularly for big matches. We need more than just a right Centre back to solve a lot of problems that started to appear last season.

If we've identified Kounde as being good enough then we should sign him.

I don't understand why people are saying that about KK though tbh.

He's 29 not 34. At 34, he'll still be faster & better in the air than Garcia will be, at 25. If he becomes injury prone then that's different. But if Vinny wasn't a sick note, he'd be still at City, playing v Wolves & better than whoever plays there on Monday.
I heard an interview with Vinny the other day and he said his real strength was making the rest of the defence better, rather than him being some extraordinary talent, particularly following his extensive injuries. Thinking back, he’s absolutely right and it’s a trait that all the best CH’s have. Think back to John Terry, Tony Adams and now with VVD, they all make the rest of them better. It’s noticeable that Maguire does NOT fall into that category although the rags do have a history of signing players that would.
If KK, at 29 can do that, we should go and get him. If he can’t, we should leave him alone and find one who can.
