Ok thanks as always for the response. The movement of people in the GM area as a whole is the problem. I live 10 miles from Birmingham who are going to start having the same sort of problems but the problem is the amount of people commuting in and out of the City to work each day. It's a big issue
I can't quite work out whether your having a pop or not? My question was about Leicester and how long it's taken them to get back to normal. It went quiet on that front. It would be interesting to see if they've ever gone backYou mean those people who were urged to go back to the office? It was vital for the economy. Loads of folk milling about together like they were in late Feb /early March which has resulted in a 2nd wave? Who was that woman who said this was unforseeable?

Well clearly it was difficult in 1918/19, given the mortality figures.
Sorry mate. Mrs works front line NHS so it's a bit of a touchy subject for me. I've kept my powder dry but if one more poster comes on and gives it the big hoax conspiracy and more people die of flu I'm going to give them my missus number to explain that viewpoint to her. Sorry againNo I am not having a pop at all mate I am just really musing on the mixed messaging and the suggestion that no-one could see it coming from Harding - it all revolves around proper track and trace - had they gone down the right route and chosen the commercially available app rather than being ideologically bound to try and develop their own and bung loads of cash into their mates then we would have had it like Germany, Ireland, Scotland and so on. Back that up with real enforcement so that bellend in Bolton can't come back from Spain, refuse to self isolate, have a party and go on a pubcrawl thats infected the town then we would be in with a chance.
So no fella not a pop at you at all
They didn’t know what a virus was then.Well clearly it was difficult in 1918/19, given the mortality figures.
Bill Roache: Older IconThe 16 England hospital deaths today were all aged between 69 and 97 and all of them had known underlying conditions.
It remains utterly sensible that we lock down older, vulnerable age groups and minimise interactions with those still out there willing to risk their health v their liferstyle.
And I have said on here before they need older icons like Bill Roache to do TV messages to explain this - not political broadcasts nobody really listens to.
Have no clue why they are so out of touch with the people they really need to persuade to stay safe.
This pretty much nails it. My thoughts too.I think it’s going to be hard to enforce these restrictions now. At the time of the first outbreak, nobody knew who was going to die from this. It was all unknown pretty much. Young people now know that they are extremely unlikely to die from this and that is enough for most to just get on with it.
I was reading some stats on the ONS site earlier and saw that deaths in people under 45 total 600 out of the total number with the vast majority being over 65 and the majority of those younger ones will have had underlying health issues.
I can see why younger people are now prepared take the risks they are taking. It’s not helpful to the older population but at 18 I’m not sure I would have been compliant.
I can’t see how lockdowns etc are going to stop this and it won’t be solved until we either find a cure or a vaccine.
At the start of this it was very effective for a good reason, non essential travel wasn't allowed, and we were only allowed out once per day for exercise, that's the only way really, however draconian it is, it works.I can’t see how lockdowns etc are going to stop this

Mice are almost impossible to infect with covid 19, and those that get it get it very mildly.
Been working tonight. Every pub and bar was choca block inside and out with 18-30s. Didnt see many grown ups about really. Those were out may as well have been on top of eachother. A lot were students but in the fancier places it was just as daft. No social distancing or apparantly any fucks given. There was a Wetherspoons in the middle of it and this week 8 staff there have tested positive including one in hospital with it. What the fuck is up with people?
