I was very keen on Koulibaly but I do think he's probably a bit old. We don't seem to have identified a top defensive target to replace Kompany.

Seriously? According to Twitter we've identified at least 4 and are definitely going to sign one of them or if not someone else.

Three centre backs in one window would be quite unprecedented but If Stones out of the door then it would make sense. Two right footed ones (Koundé, Dias) two left footed ones (Laporte, Aké).

We have foreign spots for that I believe as no one has taken Silva's spot. Koundé would take Ota's spot.

Just can't see it.

That would also mean 2 strong/slow and 2 fast/upcomers in each CB position too...would actually make a lot of sense. Maybe a club has come in strong for stones and we just dont know yet.

On top of De Jong, De Ligt, Van Dijk, Werner, Havertz, Haaland.

It doesn't seem to be for the want of trying.

I did assume Pep would be the deciding factor for these type of players, but they have all rejected us as a club rather than not being able to stump up.

Off the top of my head, Jesus, Sane and Bernardo have made Pep the deciding factor.

And almost all of them did so for the same reason. Worry over playing time (at the time of our interest in them). No manager can really change that.
