Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Watched the pep presser and he seems fine. Glad he is not throwing the players under the bus however these same players need to respond after that horrid performance. All of them individually and collectively were rubbish. Week in Iceland might do the trick:)

Its a question that will drag on all season - issue is I think Pep is judging his decision as the games go by, results and player reaction to his methods and if they are still responding in a positive way etc.

I think he looks a little burnt out but lets remember he has lost his mother in the pandemic, he has stated that it puts everything into perspective.

After the 2 huge seasons we hit a peak unseen before, that might be as good as it gets. But i dont think Pep will give an answer yet, by half way through the season i reckon he will know what he is doing...and if the players dont improve and we stutter through the season i will be leaning towards him deciding to leave. With him believing that a change is right

So to start discussing that is not a dis on Pep, he will go down as our greatest manager and what he brought.

If he leaves, who do we go for ?

Nagelsmann could be worth a punt
Everything you have stated here right down to who his replacement might be I agree with.
If Pep manages to turn this around and then appears to be reinvigorated, then a new contract, if not, then Nagelsmann.

You are 100 per cent correct. The problem is that Pep looks totally shattered to me so we have a difficult situation. If Arteta had stayed we could have given Pep some recovery time..even a CFG role for 12 months. We have been spoiled in the last decade and now it's time for some of our fans to step up to the plate.

I think you’ve nailed it.

imo pep is creative and always thinking about the game, how to improve it, change it, evolve the gameplay.

he needs a complete break every few years because it’s exhausting.
he is due one now but is putting if off because he likes city and doesn’t want to let anyone down....plus he’s desperate to win the CL in PL.

I thought after the Lyon game that he had run his race with us and I'm increasingly feeling that he could be gone in a couple of months if today is any guide.

He looks like he doesn't want to be here and I don't think that the situation can sustain all season.

The team looks over-coached and timid going forward, yet disorganised when defending. We've been trying to knock square pegs into round holes for the past year, and when we have a chance to change things in the transfer window, we dither and delay.

The UEFA case and then Covid have hung over the club but there appears to be a strange lack of leadership at the moment.

Very blase about that game in his post match interview, I think he's slowly losing interest coaching through this covid shit, been moody since the first game then tonight a sense of so what it's just a game of football. I'd be amazed if he doesn't take a year off after this season, new contract no chance.

I do wonder if our time in the Sun is done. How could you not because this performance comes on the back of last season when City's defence was wide open, and we've still not shut the door. In fact it's getting worse.

teams have ups and downs but is Pep ready for this? We've got a rebuilding job here.

This is a statement of fact and not a surrender. Just realising that City have got a job on here.

We are getting beaten regularly by teams who don't have the players we do.
If you were picking a combined City Leicester team?

The buck eventually stops with the boss and frankly despite his amazing past Pep is currently piss poor.

Why bother mate? We've been beat 5-2 at home. You don't have to run us down. We're perfectly capable of doing that ourselves.

I don’t see any obvious new manager who would not feel like a downgrade on pep and our issues are mainly personnel.

Which manager signed Rodri, Mendy, Walker, Gundogan, Stones and Cancelo?

At the end of the day we are not talking about old players at the end of their careers or players Pep inherited when he joined the club. We are talking about players who Pep signed, or at least gave his approval, who cannot play his system anymore.

De Bruyne looked like he couldn’t be arsed running back today and look at the state of the first penalty Leicester got awarded.

Both Dinho and Mahrez fail to win the ball but they also fail to make the foul. We were renowned for the tactical fouling dark arts but it seems the players cannot even be arsed to do that anymore.

The real stupidity of this side, and this must come from the tactics, is the lack of defensive responsibility. Again, going back to the first Leicester penalty, Rodri is running forwards before Dinho has even won the ball. His though isn’t to cover our defence, it’s to potentially start an attack. This attitude is the epitome of why we cannot defend for shit.

Just look at our PL record over the past 12 months, I’m pretty sure we’ve lost more PL games than Arsenal and United, if not it must be close. That’s despite being the most prolific side. Then there’s the constant repetition in the CL where we cannot defend against bang average sides like Spurs and Lyon who knock us out.

Pep quite simply has to change things and get us sorted at the back. If he insists on playing his way, we’ll be in a fight for the top 4.

I’m sure his mom passing away didn’t help him with stress either. He just seems lost, even when we are winning

He’s to stubborn to change things as has been seen many many times.
