It's Quiet thread 14 - 'do one' edition

Some of the replies in this thread about how we will do this season are a little hysterical.

We had 1 glaring issue last year and that was CB and it has been well and truly fixed.

Ferran is going to be one of the best forwards in the league by May.

This side is already 12-15 points better than last season.

You're kind of right.

We didn't have one glaring error, we had 2. We bought Rodri to fix the first one and then we made a balls of the defensive line by putting Dinho in there.

As a result, we ended up with 3 issues. Suddenly we were terrible at centre back and our left looked a lot weaker.

So, let's assume Ake and Dias coming in fixes the first issue, that doesnt neccessarily mean we fixed our first error.

Rodri has to deliver massively and the signs so far say he isn't up to it without a second DM in there.

His comments post Leicester should terrify us, basically moaning that we didn't try kill that game by constantly passing in the back once 1-0 up. That's against the entire ethos of Pep ball and you wonder why he'd openly say that. He hasn't fit yet, so for me we still have a glaring issue there.

Let's not forget also that our left back issue generally isnt one if Fernandinho is in there. Zinchenko and Delph have played great in there. You take Dinho out, Rodri doesn't give them anywhere close to the support.

So yes, Dias if he fits in goes a long way to helping, but it would be foolish to think we don't still have issues.

Yes. And what is annoying is that he has the offers to fuck off and he knows that City would politely like him to go so they can sign a LB. But word is he doesn't want to leave.
Any idea if this is to do with wages more so than foreign spots? As I understand it we have one open.

Presuming you're talking about playing the City way then there is no debate whatsoever about Eddie or Alison, it's Eddie all day long. In fact you could include every goalie in the world in the debate and there still would be no debate.
I guess if you're choosing a combined team you are not looking specifically to play the City way or the Liverpool way but a way that suits the combined players.
Looking at it dispassionately it must be acknowledged that the team that has the option of both is Brazil and they stick with Alison. Two excellent goal keepers and no question who is the better distributor though,

If we can't buy LB unless we get rid of Zinchenko then we won't be able to buy LB next summer either. We still have a long contract left on him.

I wonder what his motivation behind this is? He can't seriously think he's gonna hold down a spot at LB. Even if Mendy and Cancelo are injured Ake is going straight in there. He's always seemed like a loyal kinda guy and maybe he's desperate to work his way back into Pep's good backs after his/his wife's comment post-Lyon but it's clear his time is up and he needs to move on for the sake of his own career. Plenty of places he could go and carve out a decent career in midfield. Or is he content doing a Danny Mills for a few years?

Liverpool's players look good because Klopp have a system that allows them to play to their strengths thus masking weaknesses. They would not look as good in other setups.
Isn’t that what characterises a top manager at the top of his game?

Sheffield united singing Jordan Ibe 2 for 23.5m from dippers today.

Unbelievable!! A bit frustrating how we struggle to sell ours.

That’s harsh. I’m just glad to have a player who desperately wants to be here. He could be a fantastic utility player in this team and is still very young.
Were you glad when Wayne Bridge refused to leave for the good of the club? How about Danny Mills?

Spare me the semtiment for a minute. Zinny is beyond lucky that Pep gave him a chance. He'll have a good career elsewhere. He ought to repay the loyalty Pep showed him by moving on now.

He has no future at the club and if he thinks he has a better chance under the next manager, he's outright delusional. He already shat on the club when he and his missus talked about the dressing room after Lyon in public.
