I struggle to believe that Zinny can improve enough to be of more value to us this season than a Tagliafico.
IF, and it's a big if, he improves pretty much every part of his game and his athleticism, he could be an improvement in the double pivot. But he'll never be a defender and it's pointless playing him there.
He's made the decision to stay, now he has to prove it was the right one for him and for us. I desperately want him to make me look like a fool.
Maybe not. But I think he has a couple of attributes which would really suit us, namely his crossing which is excellent and his ability in the air, which is clearly Zinny's weakest point.I don't get the Taliafico hype. He's OK, he's not great, he's got nothing special.

Yes I agree it looks like we are at this point with Pep. That's why I think it will be really interesting to see if Pep will be able to get our team to perform consistently this season. The trend last season was certainly downwards.Some might liken the Dortmund example to our/Pep’s current situation. Or at least fear that we peaked the season before last.
No system is likely to work year in year out without evolution and adaptation.

We replaced Sané with a kid who will be a bonafide world beater.
Aké is going to be a very useful player, good enough to start at CB, good enough to fill in at LB and can be used in midfield too.
Ruben Dias wasn't my first choice but I have to trust that after a 2 year CB search they have found one who is the right fit.

Couldn’t agree more. Pep gave us two unbelievable seasons but also two mediocre ones. Without wishing him away, if we don’t hit the heights this year, I would have no worries at all about re-booting under a fresh, up and coming coach.Yes I agree it looks like we are at this point with Pep. I don't worry too much if he can't though. I am pretty sure there will be a good life for us also post-Pep. We have so many good players. They can also perform under another coach. And our financial strength will ensure that we always can sign good players in the future.
Zinny is still only 23,5 years younger than Tagliafico, he's won 7 domestic trophies with City, Ukrainian player of the year 2019, 33 Ukrainian senior caps as a midfielder scoring 5 goals.
