He's the head of the centre for evidence based science out of oxford university, but if you think he's a prick, then fair play.

It's fair to say that his views on Covid are well outside of the scientific mainstream. Science progresses partly through contrarian ideas, so it's not a bad thing from a scientific perspective, but a fucking disaster waiting to happen if you take you public health policy advice from an outlier rather than consensus.

Henegan, Gupta and the right wing charlatan Sikora mainly enjoy the publicity they wouldn't otherwise get.

I think there’s still some likely catching up being done, although that’s about capacity not data and I still wish the government would highlight the ’by specimen date‘ and not focus on the ‘by result date’.

Students, just said it’s 6 x higher in the student population.

From today's Guardian:
Manchester’s director of public health, the incidence rate in the city’s 17-21 undergraduate age group is now 2,935 for every 100,000 people – almost six times higher than the rest of Manchester, which itself now has the highest rate in the UK.

By Sunday, 1,041 University of Manchester students had tested positive, most of them living in halls, plunging thousands of others into isolation. A smaller outbreak at nearby Manchester Metropolitan University in late September was deemed serious enough to force 1,700 students into a two-week quarantine, with 531 positive cases in the first two weeks of term.

Herd immunisation, the Swedish model, has been dismissed out of hand by the UK Government, should at least be investigated?

Easy sum today - exactly 10% but a little up on yesterday. Supporting what Nicola Sturgeon said today about noticeable signs of increased transmission to older age groups. Which is by far the biggest risk for any escalation of deaths. Not the under 35s catcing it who are often just moderately ill.

...and are the cases declared today, so some of todays 14542 were actually tested as far back as Sep 22nd, that's 2 weeks ago !

on the contrary they are delighted as the brothers of doom graph was making them look a bit stupid but suddenly due to an excel error in a 12 billion quid system they find 16,000 cases and we are back on course again for lockdown.

I've just watched the circus surrounding Trump returning.
I honestly dont believe for a moment that he has coronavirus, I think it's all a hoax.

BBC News were suggesting that Manchester’s spike is continuing as students pass on the virus to local people. They interviewed worried people in Fallowfield. I’m not sure there is any evidence to support the BBC’s theory.

I did see an analysis on TV somewhere that cases are spiking higher in several prime university cities and these have escalated in the past two weeks or so and seem to have spread a little outside them into the suburbs where I gyess some students live in cheap digs.

That could well explain what we have seen in GM and why all the satellite towns seem to have had numbers now collecting together in the middle with some like Stockport and Trafford rising well up and others not so much because they were already at a highish level.

Bar Manchester which has clearly spiked far more than anywhere else in GM and is running at extraordinruy levels comoared even with two weeks ago.

The uni cases surely have to be a major part of that happening as it makes sense they would focus where the halls of residence and campuses are. Salford has had a similar but smaller spike.
