Herd immunisation, the Swedish model, has been dismissed out of hand by the UK Government, should at least be investigated?

It's not the Swedish model.

That's to have social distancing but mainly through voluntary measures.

There is no evidence whatever that Sweden is closer to herd immunity than we are - the opposite is true if anything.

I did see an analysis on TV somewhere that cases are spiking higher in several prime university cities and these have escalated in the past two weeks or so and seem to have spread a little outside them into the suburbs where I gyess some students live in cheap digs.

That could well explain what we have seen in GM and why all the satellite towns seem to have had numbers now collecting together in the middle with some like Stockport and Trafford rising well up and others not so much because they were already at a highish level.

Bar Manchester which has clearly spiked far more than anywhere else in GM and is running at extraordinruy levels comoared even with two weeks ago.

The uni cases surely have to be a major part of that happening as it makes sense they would focus where the halls of residence and campuses are. Salford has had a similar but smaller spike.

I think the Government are beginning to come under pressure to help the students out or risk losing future votes. I think they just ignored the students before.

I agree that students are helping to drive the spike in Manchester but older people have been getting the virus too as you know. The Editor of the Health Services Journal is shocked by the very big increase in hospital admissions

The Trafford cases are interesting after 19 members of the Sakes Sharks Rugby team (including backroom staff) contracted the virus. That said, they play just over the Barton Bridge at the AJ Bell stadium.

Respectfully I disagree.

Sweden is thought to be circa 60% infected (if that's the term), their reinfection rate is massively below ours when read as a % of the population.

Sweden never locked down and kept their economy going, kept all primary schools and Business's open along with bars, restaurants and pubs.

I'd say that was a very different approach to ours wouldn't you agree?

Salford Reds had a game postponed a few months ago after some Huddersfield(?) players tested positive.

Your facts are wrong.

Serology ,(blood antibodies) shows similar levels to uk.

similar levels to the uk ? but without the devastation to business, enjoyment of life, liberties , mental health and simple basic things like visiting your parents

London is over it largely it would seem? Why can’t they open back up?

The AJ Bell doesn’t seem to bring much luck. Rugby League teams have been very flexible and rearranged a number of games. Leeds played Huddersfield a few weeks ago with 7 players excluded because the test results weren’t back in time but luckily they have a big squad.

it’s just very disappointing that no fans will be allowed in the Challenge Cup final for a belting contest between Salford and Leeds.

thats an interesting opinion, can i ask why?

because he is a great leader and I like him a lot. Not sure why it is interesting when 40 percent plus Americans agree? Praise him on social media over here and you are labelled a fruit loop. I admire him and hope he gets in again. Biden getting in would be not far behind Cornyn getting in over here.

Well I never and I'll go to the foot of our stairs and if I may be so bold as to say, a very articulate clever woman at that. Of course I am not orating that women are not intelligent, only that I too thought that Healdplace was a very clever guy. If ever there was need for Avatars then I say it now without fear of reprisal that this proposal should be reconsidered. Keep up the good work lad (ladette) as it's the only data out there that we can both instantly disseminate from and it's all in one handy place too.
