Marcus Rashford lobbying govt to help vulnerable children

Channel 4 news now ...Marcus Rashford is among the covid heroes......really ?? Personally my lads gf and her mates who work on the front line for the NHS are my heroes, not some multi millionaire footballer. Rashford a hero just do one ! He has helped a very good cause but that's keep it real.

This whole honors thing is embarrassing and a joke ok some 'normal' people get an honor. To many are given out to celebrities and sports people etc just to make the powers at be to be relevant to the masses.

Has Alex Williams been recognised for his work with City in the community.

It smacka of the PM trying to be popular. Awarding an honour to someone that called him out. Fair play to the lad. He can get a big pay rise now for having letters after his name.
 
Surely this should have gone his social media/PR team?

And shouldn't it be for services to feckless breeders?
 
This is a joke, boris has done loads of u turns , the guy that did the passionate plea for him to reconsider not giving death benefits to carers families and not charging overseas staff to use the nhs should they get covid deserves it more, not so popular i suppose , this is a cynical move to make boris popular

How are you linking Rashford getting off his backside and doing something extremely meaningful to thousands of families, to it being done to make Boris popular?

He needs some positive PR. This award is all about getting that. Every Honours list has a celebrity of day with a cause celebre they want to jump on.

Blair did it every 6 months.

The rebel Tory Back benchers were the ones who forced the free school lunches issue through. A defeat caused by them would have been very embarrassing.
I wonder if those Tories would have praised for getting MBEs by the BBC and some on here.
No way. But it just been a PR wallah dream.
 
Rashford has certainly drawn attention to a subject that totally needed addressing and he’s got my respect for that, but in this modern era of political correctness I think if he turned the award down, with a reasonable reason, he would have made more of an impact upon the system.
