2021 will be a write off

Mate you need to calm down....roll a joint or do a whiskey in.

2021 will not be a write off. There will still be some issues in 2021 but things will improve and this will pass. I had loads of places I was supposed to go this year and am pissed off to say the least how it all turned out. Well its just hard luck and I will have to do those trips next year or the year after.

If I enter a pub that serves food at 12:30 on Saturday am I then entitled to stay and watch the football if I order food ?

But that’s what the Gtr Mcr council leaders are saying the government does not have. They asked to be shown proof that the hospitality industry is causing the rise, the government couldn’t show it.

In fact people are saying it’s more house to house transmission, schools and universities.

That does appear to be the data but I am skeptical about the quality of the data they are using to comprise these.

given the well documented issues with test and trace, it certainly seems possible that they have been not fully tracing the source of infections.

the easiest trace to make is within the household (eg. Husband/wife, son/daughter etc...) and a lot harder to trace other contacts outside the home.

of course the virus only comes into the home from someone going outside the home.

I think you’re right. But you just have to make the best of a bad situation as you can.

Do something with the time. You’ll never get this time again so don’t waste it.

Ive got myself into the best shape I’ve been in since I was a personal trainer fifteen years ago. I lost 3 stone in the Summer and put a stone of muscle back on since the gyms reopened.

It doesn’t have to be that, it could be redecorating, sorting the garden out, sorting your music collection out, learning to play guitar, finding a new hobby... find something to do that you didn’t do before Covid and try and make the best of it.

If we start getting frustrated, it’ll do nothing to solve anything but will make you stressed.

Well if that's the argument they went with.. The fuck sake the guys an absolute moron and i had so much respect for Andy Burnham.. For a man of some standing and presumed intelligence, what a piss poor argument to take.

1) how do you prove where any actual transmission has taken place ? all we know for fact is that mixing indoors is a sure fire way to spread a virus. That's been fact for decades now so i see no argument there at all.

2) would the track and trace app and signing in sheets not be a better guide.. If you are phoning a possible 200 people who could have been in a Weatherspoon's over a Sunday afternoon, surely that is taking up resources that could be targeted better else where ? A school or a work place in comparison is easy. Send a year home or an office working bubble.. Not telling thousands a week to isolate.

3) If you accept that indoor transmission is a huge issue, then you have a simple choice.. close the pub's ( with all the issues around people flouting the rules and mixing afterwards) or close schools and work places. Schools causes more socioeconomic issues than closing the hospitality industry. Its just a fact. You cant close schools because the simple question is, how long will this last ? so if as we wont be, clear of this by Sept next year, do we close schools and universities again ? we may as well throw a generation to the kerb.... but we could still go for a pint and keep people in jobs ? see the arse fall out of the job market when all the kids are to far behind to take up decent paid work... its going to be hard enough going through the biggest economic crisis in history, let alone to survive it with no qualifications or finishing high school at 18 FFS

I don't feel like being around next year.
Yes this has got me that bad
I hate work, I hate this pandemic and I hate winter.

Never let facts get in the way of a good rant. Look at care home numbers then think about the people most likely to die with COVID.

God sake don't think like that mate, there's a lot of people in worse situation than you. Try to think of the positives in your life. Family, friends, kids if you have them and all the fuckers on here you can take the piss out of. My missus is stuck in a wheelchair all day and suffering from ms 24 hours a day and she is still an inspiration to me with her outlook. All is not lost just grin and bear it cos it won't be around for ever

Despite the fact we wouldn't know each other if we passed each other in the street, I actually do worry about you when I see your posts sometimes. Don't stop talking about it or posting - there are many on here who want to hear what you have to say. I still can't tell you exactly when the better times are coming but i'm sure they will. Lots has gone on in the last few years for you and you will get the break you deserve. Always happy to take it to private discussion some time if you like.

What facts !!! You have read it like everyone else and saw the 3% and pissed yourself with excitement.

Well how do you suggest they got it in the care homes then, genius. Did it hop over the fence ? Did it sneek up behind a guard and jump him ? No !! because care homes take many, many precautions.

You see i already addressed this earlier in the thread today.

Its simple really, its all linked. No care home was ground zero for covid, and its not maintaining it current rise without cross infection from other sources on that graph.
For a care home that was free from covid three weeks ago, to now register an outbreak means simply its come from somewhere else. Now if you assume its member of staff or a family, then that also now covers three sections of that graph. It could be four, but i wont give in to the vague "other" 14% what ever that maybe. If you cant ask yourself the question of how its spreading between all of those sections, then you will always be focused on the 3% in outrage. You also have to aske the question of age. would a person in a care home setting be expected to suffer more with the symptoms... yep dam right you would. so how many in the other settings didn't feel Ill, as we know that's common in the younger groups.

Either way, a care home wasn't ground zero for covid.. So A) how did it get there in the first place ?
B) why is it still growing in care settings to this day. Since most of them are cleaned many times a day and have strict rules on visitors. So how is it still getting in the homes ?

Well its quite simple, they are all linked. One nurse with a Husband and two kids. They will come into contact with every section of that chart almost daily. If you compare that with the amount of sections the elderly in care would come in to contact with, its only two.

Its never been about once group causing more than others, but hospitality is where all groups will cross daily. And unless you didn't figure, its a proven fact that transmission increases indoors, even more so the wider the spectrum of people in the room.. I don't understand how you cant see that, but yeah its all about closing a pub. No one, even Andy Burnham has yet put anything like a decent argument to keep them open, i want them to stay open myself. But no one has justified it with silly comments and spouting figures they clearly haven't bothered to check.

what baffles me is a lad at works wife was poorly and tested positive but stayed at home with my mate.he was tested before he came back to work and was negative.how can someone in close contact as he still slept in the same bed not catch it.

How long will the restrictions be in place?

Areas should only be at this level for 28 days then a review should take place.

Meeting with others

You can meet with others in public outdoor places, such as beaches or parks, but only in groups of up to 6 people.

You can only meet indoors or in private outdoor spaces, such as someone's garden, or hospitality venues with those in your household or support bubble.

Travel and transport

Journeys should be minimised, but you can still travel to go to the shops, works and hospitality venues that are open.

You're advised against travelling out of your area (although exceptions apply).

Staying overnight

You can't stay overnight somewhere if it means you will be inside with people outside your household or support bubble

You're advised against overnight stays in other parts of the UK and people outside of these very high alert areas are advised not to stay in these areas.

Going to work

You should work from home where possible. Where this isn't possible, workplaces should be coronavirus secure.

Shops

Shops remain open

Hospitality

Restaurants, pubs and cafés can remain open but may be subject to local closures.

These venues have to close by 10pm and must provide table service.

Pubs and bars must serve a substantial meal with the purchase of alcohol.

You can only go out to these places with people from your household or support bubble.

Exercise and sporting activity

Gyms may be closed, depending on local area decisions.

Organised sport and licensed physical activity are allowed in indoor and outdoor settings.

You can't attend sporting events such as football matches.

Places of worship

They can open as long as households don't mix indoors or outdoors, but it's best to check with your place of worship. There are exceptions for weddings and funerals.

Weddings and civil partnerships

Up to 15 people can attend a ceremony, but wedding receptions aren't allowed.

Funerals

Up to 30 people can attend someone’s funeral and up to 15 people can attend someone’s wake.

Care home visits

You should only visit someone in exceptional circumstances, such as if they are at the end of their life.

Public buildings such as libraries

These can remain open dependent on local decisions.

I live in Trafford and we have been under strict rules for a few weeks.

Can someone tell me what changes in tier 3 aside from pubs and bars?

Does grass roots kids football/team sports and stuff like that continue?

That is households mixing outdoors?

There’s no guarantees you will catch it if your near someone even for long periods, just the likelihood increases a lot.

Maybe be had it ages ago and was one of the 25% who have no symptoms.
