Which pubs and have you got a link?

i know the Starkey's arms in Heywood was shut.. That's a holts pub, i know because i was contacted by track and trace. Two others also had to close for a deep clean after someone had been there and eventually tested positive. Unsurprisingly the landlords and brewery's try to keep this on the low down, its simply bad for keeping punters in your pub. But the whole argument and logic in the question is flawed before you even get to that.

So he says that no one caught it in any of those pubs since lockdown ended ? you ok... can you prove 100% where anyone got infected ? was it school was it work ? was it the bus ride home ? or was it the shop to get some cigs ? its impossible to prove exactly where anyone contracts a virus.. but to say it hasn't happened in any of those pubs is complete bollocks as i have personally witnessed this, i had to get my child tested to see if we could go on holiday as her mother was drinking in that venue.. so take that as you will.

You'd have been fuckin' ace at the outbreak of WWII. "Draw the curtains at night as part of the country's fight against the enemy? Heaven forfend Jeeves, we're being asked to dim the courtyard lights. What's that you say? The major industrial cities are highly populated and more likely to be attacked by the hun? Scrivvens, let them die; I've not got where I am today by doing any of this community malarkey. Make mine a Pimms and remember to bring the (literal and metaphorical) drawbridge up".
And while you’re at it, send all the southern ponces up north to our universities to help spread the virus and then claim it’s only us northerners who are Covidiots!

Fair enough but I think there is a general point here that pubs aren’t anything like the breeding ground for this virus and it’s being spread far more in other environments

Ive built my business up on trust and good name over 15 years. The VAST majority are returning customers who know me by name and ask about my family and tell me about theres. I have customers who ive never met leaving keys for me as ive been recommended and trust follows

trust me, its not a trust issue. Nice try at a cheap dig though. Although our paths have crossed i still thought you better than that
I didnt aim it at you, you read that wrong , it was a point that old people are terrified of being robbed, it was not personal , i am better than that as it happens

its not an argument of it being specifically pubs. the argument is that any indoor communal spaces are a risk. That's a proven fact and not for debate. But Schools are simply more important to the wider economy. they allow people of all professions to have child care whilst learning. so to shut a school will leave most parents with no option but to stay off work and that's the debate with the wider community right now. i know a pub has peoples livelihoods at stake, but so will closing schools. Closing a school causes more social issues than a pub im afraid, maybe there are better ways of doing things.. but ive not heard them brought to the table.. its not a simple as forcing people to stick to the rules, when the issue is simply people sharing the same space indoors.

Imo a national circuit breaker , cut cornwall off and gov can bring back mortage holidays and ask utility firms for payment deferrals ,bring back furlough , doing it by region puts everyone in those areas in trouble money wise , by doing it this way it is creating more problems, no way is easy of course
Out of interest Kaz, how many national lockdowns do you think we will need and for how long each time? I understand the ones so far have cost in the region of £400bn.

If the vaccine hasnt arrived by this time next year and if it isnt very effective as some of the more doom sayers in the science community are predicting will these lockdowns carry on throughout next year?

I live in Trafford and we have been under strict rules for a few weeks.

Can someone tell me what changes in tier 3 aside from pubs and bars?

Does grass roots kids football/team sports and stuff like that continue?

That is households mixing outdoors?
thats the thing, will it change anything.

I would assume policy is being decided with a vaccine date in mind though, and trying to see us though to that date. If thinking on a vaccine changes policy would change.

Said he's going to get VAR to review the tackle , bung a few billion to track and trace to find out who did it and promises to put Pickford into lockdown.
He also said that £60 million allocated to Greater Manchester would now be sent straight to Klopp to buy a replacement and that he would speak to UEFA about re-opening the transfer window just for them.

I suspose so, they are always going to downplay the arrival of a vaccine. Cant help thinking that these tightening of restrictions are just kicking the can down the road and delaying the inevitable. Not sure they are really working either.

Good evening Healdplace, overall that looks like good news to me with a lot of downs ans not many ups.

Other news today:

Bradford was top scorer today with 461 cases - pop score up 88 to 2681

Liverpool next on 444 cases - pop score up 90 to 3114.

Birmingham had 343, Nottingham 314 and Blackburn a big jump up to 188 - taking its pop score up the highest today of 126 to 2972 and almost certainly the 3000 club tomorrow.

Burnley too may join them as it had 74 cases and its pop score up 83 to 2976

Knowsley had 148 cases (down from 175) but added 94 to its pop score and remains well out on top in the UK at 3373.
