Quality rant, we moved out of Lower Broughton when I was a toddler but I'm still proud of my Salford roots and get really irritated by the rags being referred to as "Salford".

I watched it on Bein sport. Pretty much the same comments about lack lustre City and Pep’s CL poor form... but what irritated me was the commentators pronunciation of Peps surname. He swapped between ‘Gardy Ola’ and Gwardy Ola’... anybody confirm the correct pronunciation in Catalan?

Yep I just shook my head. Overall it was bad but Keown did put a bit of balance to the biased commentary eg highlighting short pre season,still need match sharpness etc as did Hargreaves tbf Main commentator was an arse. I’m not sure but I think he said that this was Aguero first goal since March!! Err I wonder why that might be.

Why do football commentators specialise in such meaningless, lacking-the-necessary-context statistics such as this...is it for reasons of bias and attempts to influence the viewers?

Salford is rag central still. In my school in the 70's it was 95% United. Probably something to do with the proximity of OT to Salford. I see a lot more city shirts these days in Salford.
