Owen Jones love him or loathe him writes about this narrative in his book, Chavs: The Demonisation of the Working class.
It is all about division, if the working class are blaming each other for societies ills, such as Molly from number 4 has 6 kids and a tattoo, Bob from number 17 has never done a days work in his life and the Asian family at the bottom of the street have a 6 bedroomed house 24ft wide TV and all of them are paid for by the state, especially by Fred who lives at Number 9 and goes out to work when needed on a zero hours contract to pay for his wifes bingo habit, its easy to get people to turn on each other and blame each other for their situation. Meanwhile Jeremy who lives at number 1 and has an offshore bank account in the cayman islands , runs 3 companies paying zero hours contracts and dodging taxes gets no stick and is free to carry on exploiting Fred who lives at number 9 because Fred is moaning about Molly from number 4 because she has a tattoo. Molly wants a job so she can afford a 24 ft wide TV but the only jobs are at Jeremys factory which pay zero hours contracts so she blames the Asian family because they have the TV she wants, the Asian family work hard and don't understand why they get stick from Bob at number 17 who because he doesn't work has spent all watching Tiny Tommy Ten names on You tube and blames the Asians for himself not having a job, Fred moans about Bob because he is a grafter but doesn't know Bob cant work because he is disabled, but he looks alright because not all disabilities are visual and Bob blames Molly for her kids running riot because she has been out looking for a job to feed her kids. Molly blames Fred for taking the job she wanted, and Fred blames the Asians for having the job he wanted.
The only person who never gets any blame is Jeremy, because the media love capitalists and despite him being a ****, paying shit wages and no taxes is beyond reproach, because he is part of the capitalist class. He laughs to himself because the more the people in the street blame each other the more money he makes and he escapes scrutiny. He is laughing all the way to the bank. Because the others in the street are all divided they cannot challenge him for paying shit wages, the working class are divided, the capitalist class carry on exploiting with impunity.
This happens every day, possibly in every street in the land and is highlighted by this feed the kids issue. From my mythical street who out of all of them is guarenteed to feed his kids. ItsJeremy.
