The Conservative Party

Are you saying that the only points that you are making are

'bad parenting exists' - no shit sherlock, and not just amongst those on the poverty line.

And

'We should look for solutions to that'

Cos if we take that at face value and those are the only points that you are making, then you must think you are conversing with a bunch of 3 year old. You will not find a single person in the country who does not agree with those two statements

Are you seriously saying that you feel the need to make clear these two 'no shit, sherlock' points, with no other agenda?

That's either utterly bizarre (like saying, "I just want you all to know that I believe night follows day and two plus two is four") or, more likely, a disingenuous way of supporting this vote.
There are a few making this facile point. They will use plausible deniability to angrily deny it but you and I know exactly what they are saying: "These poor people don't deserve help because they are all out smoking, having tattoos and swearing at their kids in Asda".

Ah, yes. That old chestnut. Why should we feed the hungry because some parents are frivolous? I very much doubt that there are many parents that fit that. I say, better to feed them and ensure they don’t go hungry than not feed them and ensure they do.

Exactly. Literally the worst thing that can happen is a kid gets a good healthy meal a day that they might not have 100% needed for a couple of pounds.

Not the end of the fucking world is it?

We shouldn't, but that's exactly what you seem to be advocating by saying we shouldn't give kids free meals in case their parents are spending money elsewhere.

And how exactly are you going to do stop bad parents existing? And how many kids will go hungry while you do it?
My sister in law works in a supermarket on the Wirral and has people on a very regular basis asking if they can use food vouchers for cigs, ale and even video games...

But they can't, so what's the problem? The other 99% only want to use them for much needed food.

What is the problem?
The problem is the balance is all fucking wrong for some people and the world we live in now makes it even more likely to happen with social media and the incessant desire to watch other people’s shit on TV. They’d have a 4K TV and PS5, smoke and drink before their kids appeared on the list of priorities.

They should never have had kids in the first place... yet we have no option as a civilised society to consider the kids because their pond life parents don’t give a fuck

All that makes the need to give the poor kids of these feckless parents the most basic of help, (food in their bellies) even more important.

And all of that is why a food voucher program was developed so they couldn't spend the food money for their kids on cigarettes.

So again I ask you, what is the problem with the vouchers or feeding poor children? Some people are shit parents? No shit. That's not a 21st century phenomenon either.

You replied to my comment about how the worst thing that can happen with feeding children is that a kid who doesn't 100% need a meal gets a good healthy meal. I'm still trying to work out what you getting on your soapbox about video games has to do with that.

Owen Jones love him or loathe him writes about this narrative in his book, Chavs: The Demonisation of the Working class.

It is all about division, if the working class are blaming each other for societies ills, such as Molly from number 4 has 6 kids and a tattoo, Bob from number 17 has never done a days work in his life and the Asian family at the bottom of the street have a 6 bedroomed house 24ft wide TV and all of them are paid for by the state, especially by Fred who lives at Number 9 and goes out to work when needed on a zero hours contract to pay for his wifes bingo habit, its easy to get people to turn on each other and blame each other for their situation. Meanwhile Jeremy who lives at number 1 and has an offshore bank account in the cayman islands , runs 3 companies paying zero hours contracts and dodging taxes gets no stick and is free to carry on exploiting Fred who lives at number 9 because Fred is moaning about Molly from number 4 because she has a tattoo. Molly wants a job so she can afford a 24 ft wide TV but the only jobs are at Jeremys factory which pay zero hours contracts so she blames the Asian family because they have the TV she wants, the Asian family work hard and don't understand why they get stick from Bob at number 17 who because he doesn't work has spent all watching Tiny Tommy Ten names on You tube and blames the Asians for himself not having a job, Fred moans about Bob because he is a grafter but doesn't know Bob cant work because he is disabled, but he looks alright because not all disabilities are visual and Bob blames Molly for her kids running riot because she has been out looking for a job to feed her kids. Molly blames Fred for taking the job she wanted, and Fred blames the Asians for having the job he wanted.

The only person who never gets any blame is Jeremy, because the media love capitalists and despite him being a ****, paying shit wages and no taxes is beyond reproach, because he is part of the capitalist class. He laughs to himself because the more the people in the street blame each other the more money he makes and he escapes scrutiny. He is laughing all the way to the bank. Because the others in the street are all divided they cannot challenge him for paying shit wages, the working class are divided, the capitalist class carry on exploiting with impunity.

This happens every day, possibly in every street in the land and is highlighted by this feed the kids issue. From my mythical street who out of all of them is guarenteed to feed his kids. ItsJeremy.

Its a really good book.

Regards the division it's spot on and we all know the recent tactics regards BLM, Trans, Question Of Sport, Soccer Saturday and the like. It's amazing that people *still* fall for it but there you go

All of these culture wars debates are all aimed at division of the working class. Whatever our background, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, political persuasion , place of birth, if we are working class we have more in common with each other than we do with the capitalist exploitative class. Fascists just don't get this at all, because division is at the root of far right politics, that is why fascists are puppets of the capitalist class.

The last time I looked this was a forum where people are entitled to say anything they like within the COC... I'm not getting on a soapbox at all, I simply wanted to point out the mentality of some of these people...

Is that OK for you?

I'm still trying to work out why you thought a rant about the feckless poor had any relevance to my comment about feeding kids who'd otherwise go hungry, even if they've got bad parents.

I love the hypocrisy of the Tories who support capitalism seeing kids as a burden rather than a future unit of production. If as a capitalist you want to make the most out of your employees surplus value then it is in your interest that the future units of production are well educated and well fed. Seeing the future units of production as anything other than well fed and well educated is totally counter productive to capitalism.. A capitalist should think that investing in decent food for every child will mean that the investment bares fruit in the long term as the unit of production makes them more money. Maybe its just me but its highly probable capitalists are just fucking thick.

exactly, and the most productive, supportive, trained and educated parenting is key to that. We can solve both but it seems people only want to focus on one element of the wider picture, and have done for several generations causing us innumerable problems now.
