Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Pep should sign a new deal. When it is not working out do we (the fans) walk away?...no way

He needs to fix these issues and stop making excuses as it enables the players to underperform.

Buying a shiny new toy is not good enough.

We have gave him the best players that he choose with the board and now he can't get a tune out of them.

The tactics and formation is not working.

The players are all underperforming.

Change the formation.
Change the tactics.
Change the starting personal.

Be a ruthless son of a bitch and get back in the game.

I'm on the fence a bit, splinters in arse and everything. I thought we would struggle this year, only because I thought it was going to be a transitional season. I thought I could see building blocks appearing.
1) We had a brand new exciting CB pairing in dias and laporte. On paper looks a great balance. Ake and stones to back them up with thb progressing nicely behind them. Garcia wasn't even in the picture. I even thought that tosin might even get in the squad replacing garcia. E
xciting
2) We experimented with tommy doyle in CDM. He looked decent, covered the ground well, showed bits of skill, solid passing range. We gave palmer minutes in midfield. Again looked promising. There were talks of aouaer and Douglas Luiz. Exciting
3) We brought in torres young, flair player, decent pace, looks to have an eye for goal. Delap came in, scored a peach, roughed up defenders. Braaf was being talked up. Jesus was progressing well, kun was there as the calm senior figure for our attackers, raz came of a seasons personal best. I fancied us picking up another winger/forward but hey we didn't look to bad. Exciting
4) We brought steffan into the fold. Wow name another club with 2 goalkeepers of that standard. Exciting
5) Next transfer window we look at bringing a new forward in to replace kun, we look at LB, we look at CDM. Only 3 positions in our squad that we either need 1st teamers or backup. That's it we have it cracked. Pep 2.0 he signs a new contract and the evolution is complete with city fans taking up 4/5/6 positions in the squad (doyle, foden, palmer, tosin). Exciting

Fast forward 4/5 weeks and I saw what I never thought I would see again. A starting 11 with garcia, gundogan (as well as rodri) and mahrez as the starting 11, not for 1 game but consecutive matches. We play shite in 1st match and foden and torres come on, Change the game. We play shite in 2nd match foden comes on only because kun is injured and again the game changes. yet we couldn't win because mahrez and gundogan just went missing. Mahrez' performance was one of the worst I've seen in years. Yet he's still on at the end running the ball out of play instead of fucking passing it, cause he can't pass or cross without adding to his YouTube highlight reel 1st.
Why can't Pep see that garcia, gundo and mahrez have a negative effect on our play. They go off, we improve, every time. I genuinely can't remember an exciting match we have played when 3 or 4 of them have started. They strangle our attacks.
So are we transitioning is my question. If we are why are we playing 2 30 year olds who can't press, can't do anything quickly apart from enrage me. Why are we playing a shite kid who doesn't want to be here.
If we are transitioning yes I want to keep pep.
If this is just another season of mahrez and gundogan, no I think its time to leave.
Top post says it all mate

I would like Pep to stay but the world is a different place now , he might decide to be closer to his family having lost his mother to covid19.
Pep might think he is ok and still doing his job 100% and not realise how much the death of his mother has effected him. Personally it took me years to get my mojo back after the death of my mother.

I might be completely wrong I dont know Pep, if Pep is struggling City will support him like City always do.

I am relaxed about this season , it's not really football it's just a round robin of training matches, so could be hard to get excited about these matches.

I agree on that as I lost my dad in 2007 and still haven’t fully got over it . He is not happy and looks a shadow of 3 years ago

The team won the lot domestically with pep. The can get through this rough patch with pep too. It is one team, all are part of it.

Agree, if he is struggling we need to support him even more. The way the team is playing and the personal he is choosing suggests he is done. Night and Day from the enthusiastic manager he was 2 seasons ago.

Yes I agree with the comments regarding Pep and his family sadness. Perhaps someone should point this out to the Porto manager, obnoxious man.

Pep is very serious about Carabou Cup and all all this complaining about team selection will be laid to rest. Till the next Carabou Cup game we will continue to get match fitness for the team.

If Pep is going then surly Kaldoon etc already know , if Kaldoons reading this (who knows ) I suggest he forgets serial loser Potch and looks at serial Winner Marcello Galardo at River before Barca get there

I very much doubt Khaldoon has either the time or inclination to read this forum.

But if you do, Mr Khaldoon, please sign Haaland and Sancho at the earliest possible opportunity! Or one of them plus Son Heung-Min.

I for one do not relish the day when Pep does leave. I want two things for Christmas - 1. Pep signs a one year extension and 2. He sees the light and drops the fraud Mahrez who is by each passing game making himself and others look bad. Get Foden and Torres alongside Kev as your first choice players and we'll be fine.
1 year extension and we are back where we are now. Think (and hope) it’s a long term extension. Pep changed the premier league when he came in with the possession game and we were really successful. Klopp like any good manager came up with a plan to beat the possession game. Now, a lot of teams follow the same pattern. Well drilled, and break with speed. Now the premier league is about athleticism and pace. Pep will need to come up with a plan to change the game again. He’s an intelligent football man and I am sure he could given time. As I have said in another thread he needs a solid number two and someone who is not afraid to question him. Yes, I know he left :) If Pep wants to leave then I would like a manager who can come in and implement his own ideas, and not be beholden to the existing blueprint. A manager who will bring in the youth, and make astute purchases. No, I don’t know that is :)

Built enough credit in the bank to finish the season. Think most blues would agree. Hard to see things drastically improving though, both strikes out injured while Mahrez and Sterling just look hopeless. No idea about the continued selection of Garcia which continues to cost Pep. Obviously not solely to blame but we’ve been knocked out of two cups, battered by Leicester and failed to win today with him in the backline. At what point do we say our side regresses with him in the team? We have a 50 million pound centre back on the bench just play him.
Playing Garcia instead of Stones just seems to be plain daft

Been sussed out long ago and he's too stubborn to change. Diabolical squad management in a condensed season already cost us aguero after starting him 3 times in 8 days. Has his favourites who are stinking the place out week after week. Cant see us do anything but struggle along til the league is inevitably out of reach and we're knocked out of the CL and Fa cups

It could all be part of a masterplan to soften the blow of his exit.

Yep,he hasn't lost the plot at all.....playing Mahrez,Sterling,Rodri, and Gundogan in the same 11 is in fact genius.

Think Pep has the final say seems the club are letting him decide with him coming out and saying he will decide later after he see if the team still wants to play for him.

I know he is the best manager ever but the club should always have the final say.
