Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Foden wasn’t featuring much at all until the back end of last season and this one so not sure where you’re coming from there, mate. For Torres, look at Sane. Took a little while for him to get in the team after signing and had to take the few chances he got here and there.
Garcia is simply the only option we have alongside Stones due to injuries and between the two I can only guess that Garcia has shown Pep more than Stones. It’s disappointing because I’m desperate to see Stones succeed.

It can take time for players to get what Pep wants them to do. Positional play is not the easiest system to get your head around and Pep had had very little time to teach his new boys. He's forced to play Dias and to some degree Ake but has already commented on them needed to learn their roles. With Torres, I suspect an element of giving the lad time to settle in.

I'd have Garcia nowhere near the team but we are short of players and I think he's done OK in the games he's played this lat week. I can't work out if he isn't trusting Stones or it's more a case of not being sure on his fitness. As you pointed out in another post, there's a whole lot we don't know that Pep does and also that he is not going to tell us.

No pre season isn’t just about fitness it’s about resting then conditioning and tactics. It will be a factor all season because they’ll be playing twice a week all year. Not just for us though.
How was the time used between March and June, when there wasn’t a single competitive game?

We won’t collapse but too much is geared to pep at the moment
i like the idea of poch coming in if pep goes and wonder if it’s already agreed
I can see messi maybe playing for poch anyway
But I think we just need a re boot
I didn’t think it before but peps style can only last a few years as it doesn’t evolve
People keep saying about bielsa but his style of play is like peps and Leeds will burn out in the end . He is a great manager though .

The difference now though is that with all those previous managers, the possibility of getting an upgrade existed but this time all you can do is get someone different but someone who I am 99.99999999999999999999999999999% confident will be a downgrade.

Pep is the best manager this club has had. The team that won 198 points in two seasons and won every domestic trophy in one season is probably the best we will ever witness as City supporters. It is a team that is not given the full respect it deserves because it didn't win the UCL.

Another manager will hopefully get the UCL monkey off the club's back at some point but they won't manage a domestic quadruple (they can feel free to prove me wrong).

So what's be biggest risk, giving our best ever manager, the guy who also, in my and plenty of other people's opinion, produced the greatest club side in history, some time and cash to create another great side or appoint someone who will not go down in history as one of the greatest sports team managers ever?

I mean, for example, Poch is available and he won's the square root of fuck all so that sounds like a great move to replace Pep with him.

The only manager I would even consider over Pep would be Nagelsmann because he has shown that he is headed straight to the top and it would be a chance to get the next Pep/Mourinho/Klopp level manager before hes made his name somewhere else.

But even then I'd only consider it if Pep was basically telling us he wasnt that interested in staying.

There is no one better than Pep, the only question will ever be if he's still motivated and happy here.

I assumed you were a pissed up idiot first time but you‘ve just confirmed the problem goes deeper.
Good on ya pal.

Pep is not above criticism but some people on here are quite simply needy and pathetic.

Post with respect to the best manager this club as ever had and I won’t feel the need to express my freedom and comment.

For all those people that think Pep is the best manager in the world and we can’t replace him. Remember it is a big world. Name the top 3 managers in Chile. The top 2 in Mexico. The top 6 in Spain. The top 4 in Germany. Etc etc. What? You can’t do it without google? Yep. That’s cos there are a lot of people out there who I imagine no one on Bluemoon knows of. The football under Pep was/is brilliant to watch. But it is not at present. It is turgid. He may turn it around, but if not it is not the end of the world - most managers would love to come to City - currently we have the pick of virtually anyone in the world
A lot of the problem with the football we are seeing is thanks to out opponents who don't want to come out and play. That's their prerogative: we can't expect them to make it us for us but it's really difficult to play fabulous exciting football when your opponents drop deep, deny space, are well organised and work their balls off.

People will talk about moving the ball faster more, and we probably should do that to a degree, but much of the time, it's about speeding up at the right moment.

I've said a few times but after struggling to break down a disciplined wall of Porto players, once we took the lead and they were forced to try and come out from their shell, the game changed and was far more entertaining and we looked like we could tear them a new one.

The biggest thing City need to do is stop conceding the first goal in games they are dominating. That may mean being more cautious and less entertaining for the moment.

I also think we need to get back to having a really effective press but that may have to wait for some players to return from injury / settle in and ultimately for yet more personnel changes in the squad.

After the way they played against Porto I would definitely disagree with you that they were good enough.
I find it completely inexplicable why Pep put out that same team again yesterday and expected them to play any differently than they did a few days earlier.
Each opponent brings differences to each game.

Nagelsmann is interesting and I'm sure City are monitoring him. And who is he goes to for advice...

He may we’ll be the best manager we’ve ever had. He’s undoubtedly given us the best football we’ve ever seen in Mcr. What‘s concerning some posters is whether he’s now had his day. Agree or not, that’s a valid concern. So why attempt to shut down debate?

I'd actually say that's a rather premature concern.

The team is having a rough patch by its own recent standards (I use the term recent in the context of not being too far short of 50 years as a season ticket holder). I'd say it's far too soon to be worrying about him having had his day.
