Someone not wearing a mask is going to get a smack in the mouth from me at the shops I swear. Getting sick of these selfish bastards who are prepared to give Covid to others, risk MY life whilst I am out wtf! Fuck that, they need a bit of telling.

All you non mask wearers thinking you're beating the system, you remember there are people who are losing loved ones to this shit, and they like me will be totally fucked off to see you walking around spreading this
I said something similar the other day. Some people think it’s cool to break rules but that doesn’t work with a virus. Breaking Covid rules isn’t cool, it just makes you a ****.

It’s not just masks. Even those with a mask on who don’t cover their nose or even their nose and mouth who wear it like a chef who has a beard. And even those who wear a mask properly who are constantly messing about with their mask, pulling it up/down, touching their face and then walking into shops and cafes straight past the hand sanitiser station and not sanitising their hands who then touch everything they walk past in the shop.

All little things that add up if many do them.

Does anyone know the situation if you are flying into the country? I want to visit family but I beleive that entails 14 days isolation when I am there, if I got a test the day before flying would that have any bearings on the restrictions?
Which country from/to?
If the country/region is on the others safe list then no wait at all. If not 10 to 14 days quarantine on arrival and/or return.

You asked them if they’re exempt? Love it that you think if someone isn’t wearing a mask the best thing to do is get closer to them and smack them lol.
If they're young fit and walking around without problems then they're probably twats.

I can say without hesitation that the R number in my local authority, Bromsgrove, is 1. Four days on the bounce with virtually identical case numbers.

I was in Iceland (the store) the other day and at least half the people had no masks. I found a member of staff and asked why the store wasn’t doing anything and the bloke said that they just get a mouthful or threatened if they say something. There needs to be security either in the store or in the shopping centre to deal with these idiots.

It’s ok to disagree with the rules but the way to express that is not by ignoring them or going out of your way to do something silly (eg. That guy who went in a Tesco in wales removing the sellophane from the closed isles - why?)
If half of a decent number of people were not wearing masks that is obviously the case that some do not qualify as exempt.
You can tell with some that don’t wear them that they are not exempt and just think they are above the rules.
I can see why shops are not enforcing it though given the scenes some of these people cause.

Well my area in Scotland was probably heading for Scottish tier 1, until some selfish twats from a neighbouring town, including a group of carers, decided to ignore Sturgeons advice not to go to Blackpool, 17 have tested positive so far in the last 2 days and looks like tier 2 or possibly 3 for us as a result.
Weeks of being good by most down the toilet because a few decided they’d ignore advice.
Not to mention a couple in their 60s that picked it up in Blackpool have now both died in another area.

but inchy says only the vulnerable need to take precautions , god save us from selfish twats

BT sports showing FA Cup tie Bishop Stortfird v St Albans. Crowd allowed in, zero social distancing and very few wearing masks. Good game though, 6 mins in, 1 goal, post hit and few other shots

I just can't get my head around that sort of attitude, sadly it's a minority but a significant one.

GM scoreboard:

Manchester 392 - up from 350. Total cases 18, 268. Weekly 2727. Pop score up 71 to enter 3300 club at 3304. Weekly Pop 493. A fall from 505 and back where it was a week ago. Stabilising back to its numbers after the student explosion tipped it over the edge.

Wigan 288 - down from 315. Total cases 9082. Weekly 2076. Pop score up 87 to enter 2700 club at 2763. Weekly Pop up to 631.

Bolton 280 - huge rise from 174. Total cases 9225. Weekly 1575. Pop score up 97 to enter the 3200 club at 3208. Weekly Pop - though - actually this falls to 548 despite the rise as last week it had even more cases.

Oldham 249 - up from 219. Total cases 8349. Weekly 1559. Pop score up 105 - worst in GM and UK today. Weekly Pop up to 657 - highest in GM recently and well up the Red Watch UK list challenging Bradford for top spot.

Salford 243 - up from 207. Total cases 7527. Weekly 1533. Pop score up 94 to enter the 2900 club at 2908. One of two GM boroughs likely to go into the 3000 club in next couple of days. Pop score only up 1 though to 592 as it has been running high for some time so little change upward.

Rochdale 233 - big rise from 158. Total cases 7307. Weekly 1301. Pop score up 104 - to enter 3200 club at 3285. Weekly Pop 585.

Stockport 228 - another big rise from 161 to highest in some time. Total cases 6183. Weekly 1174. Highest ever here. Pop score up a near record for here of 78 to enter the 2100 club after just a day in the 2000s at 2107. Weekly Pop 400. The joint biggest Weekly Pop rise of the day leaves GM with no boroughs under 400 now. Though still (just) the lowest.

Bury 189 - big rise here from 133 after what has been a good week. Total cases 5659. Weekly 1022. Cost it its sub 1000 score. Pop score up 99 to enter 2900 club ay 2963 and looks certain to be the 5th borough into the 3000s tomorrow. And may not be alone if Salford has a bad day. Weekly Pop up by 24 (joint worse with Stockport) to 535.

Tameside 181 - up from 164. Total cases 6190. Weekly 1126. Pop score up 80 to enter the 2700 club at 2733. Weekly Pop 497.

Trafford 118 - down from 158. Only really good performer of the day. Total cases 5505. Weekly 1004. Lowest in GM which now has no borough with under 1000 cases a week. Though Trafford has a shot of regaining that. Pop score up 49 (by far the lowest of day) but entered the 2300 club at 2319. This was enough to make up big ground on Stockport in the chase for best Pop score reducing the gap by a whopping 29 in a day from 241 to 212. A few more days like this and it will become a contest again. Weekly Pop 423. Meaning the gap is only 23 to Stockport on having the best weekly pop and Trafford could easily gain that title if these respective numbers keep up for a few days.

Small possibility there maybe some news on the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow. They were originally expected to unblind their trial results around now and tomorrow they have some financial data coming out so it's possible they might give an update on their vaccine at the same time??

Not what the stats show. (3-4% of transmissions from pubs)
Some stats are more trustworthy than others.
Pubs and bars have been shown elsewhere as places to transmit and test and trace have been shown to be not very good.
No certainty about pubs but they remain likely sources of transmission.

See the end of this, mid-November is their expectation to submit for approval but this is for the US only.

Our best bet is the Oxford vaccine which supposedly will be ready by Christmas assuming the results are good but then the government has to manage distribution.

GM Weekly Pop ups and downs - lowest number best. Slowest rise or falls day to day Good. Over 400 on UK red watch list. 550 + usually in top 10 worst. But as competition from more cases in more places grows those numbers are edging up week by week and 500 may be the new 400 and 650 the new top 10 by now.

Stockport 400 - up from 301 last Monday and 376 yesterday.

Trafford 423 - up from 342 last Monday but down from 431 yesterday.

Manchester 493 - DOWN from 496 last Monday and from 505 yesterday

Tameside 497 - up from 401 last Monday and 486 yesterday.

Bury 535 - up from 435 last Monday. and 511 yesterday.

Bolton 548 - up from 454 last Monday but down from 562 yesterday.

Rochdale 585 - up from 509 last Monday and 580 yesterday.

Salford 592 - up from 486 last Monday and 591 yesterday.

Wigan 631 - up from 482 last Monday and 628 yesterday.

Oldham 657 - up from 467 last Monday and 644 yesterday.

As you can see the Pop score changes give a very different perspective on things than the raw case numbers day to day which show highs and lows but these measure that v the size of the borough and reveal the day to day trends of where a borough is headed.

In general GM is all going up by 80/100 a week. This is not good and not sustainable without even worse measures.

The real two problem towns - Wigan and Oldham are clearly exposed and both are in the top 4 or 5 worst in UK right now day after day. Salford is going up slowly but heading there too.

The lower the starting score the further the town is from being in real trouble but nobody in GM is miles away.

And the real surprise is Manchester. Despite having high numbers and top every day in the raw case count its much greater population means its Pop Score measure has not been shooting up like smaller boroughs have resulting in the place with the most cases actually having FALLLEN in its weekly Pop during the week.

It is likely the big number of student cases that bumped up numbers in past weeks have now disappeared and it has dropped to the kind of numbers it is expected to get per population.

Which seems to be at a high level but not accelerating upward. And hopefully will start to fall. Which this weekly Pop score will reveal more quickly than fluctuating day to day cases.

This is what the other boroughs need to do to get GM out of tier 3.

Or all the sheep are following each other.
Germany were the leaders not followers , makes sense that lots of people in small venues without masks getting pissed is going to be loved by covid , it wants people close together, breathing and touching each other , leaving virus on the surfaces in the loo etc

I see Nottingham is going into Tier 3 on Thursday now.

Its cases have been falling.

Past few days are: 314, 247, 244, 203, 239, 194, 198.
