Another national lockdown is IMO inevitable at this point.

For entirely different reasons admittedly but nevertheless with the same effect, we will this time go into national lockdown far too late, just as we did with the last one. Our failure to bite the bullet and do what needs to be done WHEN it needs to be done, will once again, costs tens of thousands of needless deaths.

North East up to 1136 from 1021 but staying around these numbers regularly now

So pretty small rises in the most impacted areas.

And the NW has risen for 3 days but only increased by a total of 89 in those 3 days.

Even better news the GM total fell to its lowest since tier 3 by 246 down to 2386.

This reduced its % of the NW total back down to 47%.

In town at the moment and it’s a joke, people without masks, people not wearing them right, unfairly blaming bars etc just go into the Arndale to see the problem. Selfish pricks everywhere, it’s a pity the virus doesn’t kill them off. We won’t be coming back into the city centre again until all this is over.

Only 6 boroughs 200 or over today. Trafford again star performer and pulling away from rest of GM.

But only 3 boroughs rose - the others all fell. Manchester significantly. Wigan too - though still in the 300s.

The numbers also show there has been an increase in cases in all age groups over the past two weeks, with older teenagers and young adults having the highest current rates.
Rates appear to be steeply increasing among secondary school children.

Let’s hope it’s soon... we’re locked down in Wales and it would make sense to do it nationwide... it didn’t seem logical to do it in isolation but now the numbers do seem to justify the move but I fear it’s too late

I knew even before lockdown in March, because I was due to fly long haul in April, and I wanted to know for my own safety, so I did some research. Most of the things I read suggested it's nearly as safe as being in an operating theatre due to the filters etc.

Not a very encouraging more than doubling of cases since the circuit breaker.

I think we will find in retrospect that each ratcheting up of lockdown actually makes the situation worse.

Pop score up 69 to enter the 2400 club after a day in the 2300s at 2402. Weekly Pop still rocketing up at 483. Was under 200 on 1 October and just 16 on 1 September!

Tameside 195 - up from 185. Total cases 6956. Weekly 1274. Pop score up 86 to enter 3000 club at 3071. Just two boroughs left now in the 2000s - both of which hopefully look safe in there for the next week! Weekly Pop 562.

Rochdale 190 - down from 212 and continuing its improvement. Total cases 8179. Weekly 1413. Less on this measure than Stockport for first time ever shows the relative progress of these two towns in past week! Pop score up 85 to enter the 3600 club at 3677. Weekly Pop 635.

Bury 157 - down from 173. Total cases 6326. Weekly 1095. Pop score up 82 to enter the 3300 club at 3312. Weekly Pop 573.

Trafford 149 - down from 157. Best in GM again today. Total cases 6125. Weekly 1066. Best in GM and only Bury giving it a battle. Apart from Hastings. Pop score up lowest in GM 64 today to 2581. Weekly Pop 450. Pulling clear of Stockport - long time leader here. And also made up more ground over them in the overall Pop score race. Just 179 behind after being nearly 250 a few days ago.

Fact is all borders should have been closed and all holidays abroad cancelled.
They weren’t and people were being encouraged to fly away and therefore decided that it was a risk worth taking.
That’s the government’s in charge who are at fault, not the man in the street.

I agree. Keeping our borders open in March when it was clear what was happening in Italy was mistake number one. Not learning from it was a much bigger mistake.

The government have made lots of mistakes with this and it’s coming home to roost, as it is in other countries.

Its like this Wooly “Work from home” message “where you can”. Owners of firms have basically manipulated the guidance to suit them. The m6 was rammed with cars tonight and had been busy for weeks so this is being ignored too.

Whilst I fundamentally disagree with the Wales lockdown and I think the Welsh first minister who fully backed and still backs Corbyn is a moron, on this point they need to be cut some slack.

They did say at the start of the lockdown that the figures at the of the lockdown would be little different to this'd at the start. They thought the benefits would be realised a couple of weeks after the lockdown when the figures would begin to be seen to be flattening out....?

Personally I think it's a pretty weak argument and justification but....

Did anyone else see that fucking idiot on tonight's news. Was being interviewed and admitted to going to a neighbouring area to put a bet on and have a pint because he cannot do that in his area. The interviewer said he shouldn't be doing that and asked him did he think the rules were clear.

Fuckwits response, yes they are clear but there there to be broken.

Some will die.
Some will become very ill.
But they will do so anyway as the virus runs amock.
The number of lives saved will be enormous and our economy will suffer much less damage.
It is a numbers game and you can't stop young people being young people.
